Head Of Hardware Design My client is heavily backed with investors that are on the board of TATA, JLR and Rolls Royce to name a few. As the Head of hardware the hardware team you will be working with internal and external key stakeholders to establish objectives and direct the team. You will be responsible for translating objectives into operational business plans considering all legislative constraints as well as reviewing requirements against the overall business plan. Communicating effectively to all stakeholders. As a head you will be developing symbiotic relationships whilst reviewing and evaluating programme, process, and personnel. Key Responsibilities To manage the research, development and productionisation of bespoke power electronic conversion equipment. -Responsible for the performance development of team personnel, building and strengthening a flexible and motivated team. -Responsible for team attendance, recruitment and discipline activities. -Assigning individual objectives through the creation of daily and longer-term operation schedules to deliver the departmental objectives as defined by departmental head and the SMT. -Establish and administrate meaningful key performance indicators for all major activities -Develop and improve departmental resources and procedures, reviewing emergent technology and established best practices to ensure deployment of robust solutions. -Assessing and securing sub-contracted services when appropriate. -Working with key stakeholders to develop requirements into an appropriate specification. -Working at all stages of targeted projects to include initial feasibility and management justifications, drafting of specification, securing budget, simulation, design assembly and verification through to handover and end user training. Project scope to cover a range of disciplines including: High speed motor inverters and grid tie inverters. High efficiency DCDC converters. Battery management systems. Engine control systems and remote telemetry and logging solutions. Ensuring effective knowledge capture and transfer for all systems through the appropriate use of documentation, training and skill redundancy. Provide support, guidance and training to including version control, resolution support and test validation. Consideration of health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities, developing and designing to meet or exceed established standards e.g. machine safety standards, low voltage directive etc. Technical Minimum of 7 years' experience in product design as an electronic engineer 3 year experience managing teams of hardware engineers with up to six people Experience in creating cost effective solutions that meet aggressive product feature, cost, quality, performance, and time to market requirements. Experience supporting complete product solutions from concept to manufacture Experience in schematic capture tools Experience in layout tools Experience of debugging using high speed scopes and other tools. Have proven experience of leading projects on time and to budget. Qualifications Electrical or Electronic based degree with a minimum of 7 years' experience in management of an engineering team within the electrical and electronic industry. A significant portfolio of work in the design and development of high speed motor inverters, high efficiency DCDC converters, grid tie inverters, battery management systems, fuel metering and control systems, gas turbine (engine) control systems, remote telemetry and logging solutions.
