Reporting to Senior Delivery Manager In a nutshell Specifically aligned to the needs of Sainsbury's Bank. Responsible for project delivery and the full project lifecycle ensuring the most effective, timely and appropriate IT solutions (application or infrastructure) are developed (acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality) to fulfil the business requirements enabling benefits realisation Junior project managers will take responsibility for initiatives of between £1m and £2m in value. More senior project managers responsibility will be for initiatives up to £6m in value The role will be accountable for delivering projects to budget, time and quality following the Sainsbury's governance framework. What I need to do Responsible for day-to-day delivery of the end-to-end IT project (or multiple projects) to meet the agreed business requirements within timescale, cost and quality constraints, and in accordance with the agreed standards & methods, working with D&T colleagues, third party suppliers and the business to achieve the desired result o Works with the Product Owners to ensure that the business develop robust requirements, processes, project acceptance criteria, training plans, training materials, communication plans, deployment plans and required procedural changes.o Communicates and provides visibility of the progress of the programme demonstrating control over both internal and supplier progress and the continued viability of the project(s) Responsible for ensuring best value is obtained for the project(s) including supplier base, use of internal and external resources and technology and delivery model as required. This includes day to day management of relationships with all third parties and the creation and approval of all necessary work orders and contracts with support from the procurement team: o Ensures no third parties are engaged in delivery work without commercial agreements in place using the agreed templates issued by Procuremento Owns all contracts for delivery work and be accountable for their content, accuracy and completeness Responsible for developing highly effective relationships with colleagues at all levels in the organisation to deliver the optimal solution, escalating to the Project Sponsor where necessary (providing evaluated recommendations) to ensure the project(s) is completed to time, cost and quality Responsible for assuring the quality of the project following agreed quality assurance standards: o Ensures effective use of & adherence to the operating modelo Regularly reviews the progress of the project(s) to ensure effective management of the change of requirements, milestones, risks etc and to improve the efficiency of resourceso Facilitates post implementation reviews to incorporate learnings into future projects Recognised as the main IT contact for the project within D&T, the business & with suppliers Contributes back to the wider knowledge base of expertise so that other projects benefit Undertakes business analysis activities on small projects where necessary How I will succeed Business satisfaction scores confirming delivery to expectations Delivery of projects to business owners that meet the business requirements Change Requests associated with delays not exceeding 10% of a project's original budget Actual costs inline with budgeted costs (Forecast is at least 90% accurate to actuals) Projects are delivered on time, at agreed cost and quality Estimates for the IT projects have been produced and budget funding secured System changes handed over to support are sufficiently stable to not affect system KPIs. No significant problems highlighted by the PIR What I need to know Track record of successfully managing IT projects into the Financial Services sector through the full lifecycle. Experience of working in supply side relationship and able to reconcile project delivery with a commercial management framework. Track record of applying IT project management techniques with expertise in project management methodologies and approaches - for example, Microsoft Project including: o Project planning, estimating, monitoring and controlling tools and techniqueso Risk management techniques - risk identification, analysis, estimation and mitigationo Quality management tools and techniques, etc Understanding of and willingness to apply the operating model, key deliverables and quality gates Familiar with tools and technologies to be able to make the right decisions for issues that impact project delivery Familiar with IT & having a commercial perspective & an understanding of how the project contributes to the business case Expert knowledge of the IT investment evaluation process, including cost/benefit analysis & estimating IT cost/resources etc for both defined & undefined initiatives High level of impact and influence and is comfortable with ambiguity Has the financial acumen to manage a small budget, is able to operate all internal financial processes and is able to support negotiations for external commercial arrangements Makes customer-oriented decisions and shares great stories of exceptional customer service Remains visible to customers as the face of D&T to listen to their concerns and share these with others Proactively takes responsibility, owns any issues arising and follows through to resolve them (get the required result) and recognises how individual responsibility impacts team delivery and inspires others to do the same Works collaboratively with a range of people to support the wider business agenda Always remains focused on the most critical / impactful task to hand using all resources efficiently and effectively Takes advantage of every opportunity to communicate relevant information remaining mindful of the audience (e.g. translates complex/technical issues to meet the audience's competency level) What I need to show Strong verbal and written communication skills Proven planning and prioritising skills in order to deliver projects to deadlines Ability to work independently, checking in with Programme Managers for direction typically on a weekly basis Financial Acumen to manage the project budget as required Ability to review processes and drive change through continuous improvement Resources available to me Project team resources as assigned, including Product Owners, architects, designers, testers, security and network engineers, plus external providers Business colleagues assigned to the project Nominated individuals from those areas impacted by the project such as the support and operations teams to collaborate on operating model deliverables IT project budget. c£2m-6m pa What decisions I can make Decisions as necessary to ensure successful completion of the project Sign-off of project plans and deliverables Recommendation to Senior Management on system and business readiness *LI-LS1
