Regional Officer, BBC Children in Need (Birmingham)
BBC Children in Need is the BBC's UK Charity. Our vision is that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood and the chance to reach their potential.
The Charity, currently supporting 2,463 projects working with children and young people in the UK, with a total value of c.£160m, has the following strategic aims:
•To increase our impact: to accelerate and broaden the positive and measurable impact that we have on the lives of children and young people.
•To build strong financial foundations: to drive income growth and optimise our funds to maximise the benefit they can have.
•To build a strong charity: be an efficient, effective and well-run organisation, which supports its staff to be their best.
We now need to appoint a Regional Officer to play a significant role in meeting the above aims of the charity, within the Central regional team, based in Birmingham.
***This is a Maternity Cover from 11the December 2017 to 10th August 2018***
As Regional Officer, you will play a significant role in the region to meet the aims of the charity. You will be managing a geographical area and grant portfolio, working with regional stakeholders to facilitate the development and delivery of solutions for change for children and young people.
You will provide leadership, management and support for the regional grant-making and grant management process, and will play a key part in supporting the annual BBC Children in Need Appeal. This includes acting as a contact point across the voluntary and community sector and for key stakeholders throughout the BBC, across the BBC Children in Need fundraising community and beyond. This role supports the vision to enable even more effective and sustainable positive change for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.
The Regional Officer will report to the Regional Head.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have experience working with the voluntary sector, preferably in the grant-making or children and young people spheres. You will have an understanding of the current voluntary and statutory sectors in England, including the central region. Your excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills will allow you to communicate appropriately with people of all types and at all levels. The ability to organise a large workload and to work quickly but calmly to tight deadlines is critical.
A high level of personal resilience is required to be successful in this hugely rewarding position where you give back to the community and change the lives of children and young people across the UK. You will be supported by a friendly team environment.
