We are looking for a technician to join our team to provide a range of technical support services to our customers.

Topline Systems is a small IT services organisation based in Birmingham, established in 1991.

Our core services include IT support, IT maintenance, Telecoms equipment and services, Internet services.

We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic individual, with a keen interest in technology to join our team.

You should already have good general technical abilities, with some relevant training or academic background and personality that will enable you to work on your own, self-motivated, both at busy and quiet periods.

We accept that some of the most technically gifted individuals do not enter this industry via formal academic paths. If you believe you have the skills and or experience but lack the qualifications, tell us why you would thrive in this role.

At interview you will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of and practical ability relating to computer configuration on Microsoft based systems and network systems.

Typical work will include

- Investigating and resolving IT hardware, software and communication issues
- Providing assistance to customers by telephone and remote control software
- Supporting Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft servers
- Visiting customers to provide support, install and maintain equipment
- Carry out repairs and service computer systems at our workshop
- Installing and fault finding in wired and wireless networks
- Providing assistance to other engineers
- Dealing with technical presales enquiries
- Updating our service administration system
- Maintaining accurate documentation records


- Confident and professional liaising with clients and suppliers
- Positive, cheerful, "can do" attitude
- Able to work as part of a team, approachable and seeking assistance where required
- Able to work on own initiative including ability to research and solve problems independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail are essential
- Strict adherence to policies including confidentiality of data and appropriate use of company name & branding
- Full UK driving license and own car would be an advantage.

We are not a suit and tie type of organisation but we do expect employees to dress sufficiently smartly to convey an appropriately professional image to clients. Our clients are from a wide variety of environments and industries including small businesses and charities, education, manufacturing and busy call centres. As you will be meeting clients it is important that you have a high standard of personal hygiene & presentation.

This is a customer facing role and you would could be dealing with clients both in person, via email and telephone. It is essential that you have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Whilst not an essential requirement for this position an understanding of the principles of analogue and VoIP communications would also be beneficial, as would an understanding of basic electronics and Linux.

You must be located based within an easy commuting distance of our office in South Birmingham.

Employment will be subject to initial trial period and conditional on the satisfactory outcome of references and any other background checks that may be appropriate for the role.
