A Principal Engineer within Body Structures is required to join a leading automotive OEM based in Gaydon, Warwickshire. This is a long term contract paying up to GBP24.91 per hour.

Position Description:

Working directly for a Primary Structures Team Leader, your key responsibilities will be:

* Development of structural concepts and designs to deliver flexible architecture solutions that can be deployed across a wide range of product types - delivery of this through definition of new BOD and BOP
* Analysis of structural concepts and designs using a range of methods to confirm and refine the solutions developed
* Benchmarking and analysis of competitor products to inform and support the design approach
* Liaison and interface with key stakeholder functions (Body, Chassis, Vehicle safety, manufacturing, design etc) at a technical level to ensure developed solutions are fit for purpose and also effectively realised in the new products subsequently developed

The Primary Structures team develops new structural concepts for vehicles integrating all structural elements (body, chassis, powertrain) into an efficient architecture (delivered through Bill of Process / Bill of Design) that can form the basis for all future vehicles that the rest of the business can take through the development process through to volume production.

The Primary structures team ensures that the architecture developed has sufficient bandwidth and capability to produce all anticipated models and their powertrain options (including electrification) in a time, cost and resource efficient manner.

The Primary Structures function is being developed to make a step change in the way JLR develops new products and requires solutions to drive the business into a more effective ways of working requiring not only a high level holistic view of the logical operation physical vehicle structures but also ability to analyse in detail structural performance of structures, components and mechanisms to ensure the robustness of the concepts proposed for Crash, Durability, Vehicle Dynamics, Occupant package and NVH.

Skills Required:

1 Able to demonstrate the ability to deliver the resolution of technical issues within a team environment with the ability to interface directly with Engineering, Design and Manufacturing teams.
2 Should exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal skills, self-confidence, a 'passion for the product' and be self-motivated to deliver with minimum supervision. CATIA or CAE user
3 A high level of computer literacy - CATIA or CAE user

Experience Preferred:

Knowledge of Body Engineering or Chassis system component design

Education Required:

Educated to Degree level in Engineering
