A strategic alliance has been formed between Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police in order to enable both forces to meet the challenge of reducing policing budgets. By working more closely together the forces will benefit from greater operational and organisational resilience, making us the fourth largest geographic police area in England and Wales.

The main purpose of the role is to manage the risk to those victims of domestic abuse assessed as high risk, reducing or removing the risk where possible.

Main Responsibilities:

In line with force policy accurately assess the risk posed to victims of Domestic Abuse and provide personal contact to victims of domestic abuse to assist with this process. Provide victims and their families with advice and guidance to assist and enable them to manage their vulnerability to domestic abuse.

In line with guidance from DA supervision, attend, support and present information at multi-agency meetings, including MAPPA, MARAC, child protection and vulnerable adult meetings/conferences.

Ensure that relevant documentation is completed at all times, giving particular attention to appropriate referrals to other agencies to manage the risks posed and provide support in line with current guidance and statutory obligations. To give consideration to disclosure issues and disseminate through the appropriate channels.

To liaise with and assist investigation teams and external agencies to ensure opportunities to protect and manage the risk to victims, children, their families, the community, the police and partner agencies are maximised.

Provide support and guidance to staff on assessing and managing risk presented by domestic abuse.

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.


Demonstrable significant knowledge and understanding of the management of risk in relation to Domestic Abuse Victims

Knowledge of key legislation, statutory guidance, approved professional practice, established doctrine and local safeguarding procedures, in the areas of:

X Child Protection and Abuse Investigation

X Adult Safeguarding

X Mental Health

X Management of Police Information

X Freedom of Information Sharing

Must have experience in providing support for victims of violence

Must be able to demonstrate the ability to identify risk and minimise or reduce that risk

Ability to work in partnership with other statutory and voluntary agencies.

Good communication skills, both oral and written.

Competent in the use of IT including Windows, Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat or equivalent.

Ability to enter and gather information from a range of sources using an appropriate computer system and retrieve and present information in a suitable format.
