Our client is the UK & Europe's leading express parcels carrier, due to the continued growth with this their business they are looking for a AM Shift Manager (00.00 to 10.00 - 4 days - Thurs, Fri, Sat , Sun) for there depot in Stoke.

Reporting to the Depot Operation's Manager you will manage the depots AM operation on a daily basis.

You will be responsible for the following:

1.Operational AM Manger

??Optimise utilisation of C&D resource - employed and ODF

??Responsible for ensuring all company environmental policies and procedures are implemented and managed to a high standard

??Where required, effectively manage external resource

??Deployment of C&D resource to achieve target service levels

??Ensure the C&D operation achieves planned unit cost

??Ensure contingency plan in place to cover Holidays and Absence

??Maximise utilisation of prevailing technology eg Saturn 700

2.Financial Planning & Control:

Accurately report costs, volumes and service levels in a timely manner, using the prevailing software packages

3.Customer Focus:

Courteous and efficient interaction with customers by means of personal contact, telephone calls and via Central Customer Services resulting in efficient and effective resolution of enquiries and high levels of customer satisfaction.

4.People Management:

??Day-to-day management of drivers and warehouse operatives will require the following skills to be utilised - Leadership





??A good working knowledge of Company terms and conditions of employment and the National Union Agreements will be required.

??Understanding and experience of Company policies in respect of absence management and disciplinary and grievance procedures must be demonstrated in order to resolve or escalate issues as appropriate.

5.Quality & Service:

??Understand depot KPI's and service levels

??Communicate performance levels to staff through briefing sessions

??Identify areas of poor performance and initiate steps for improvement

??Understand company and depot quality standards and ensure compliance

6.Health & Safety:

Ensure a thorough understanding of the Company's H&S Management System

??Ensure effective implementation in relation to the shift covered with particular emphasis on Safe Operating Procedures

??Support of site manager in periodic promotional campaigns


??Ensure a thorough understanding of the Company's Transport Procedures Manual

??Ensure effective implementation in relation to the shift covered

??Support of site manager in periodic promotional campaigns


??Ensure a thorough understanding of Company Security Manual

??Ensure effective implementation in relation to the shift covered

??Support of site manager in periodic promotional campaigns

9.Personal Development:

Where, through the Company's appraisal system, training needs are identified, SOMs will be expected to attend recognised off-job training and development courses. These may be residential.
