Job Description: Our client who is an iconic luxury sports car manufacturer, is currently recruiting for the following role: Job Purpose The purpose of the job is to lead the Engineering function in development of Sealing and Glazing systems and components on new vehicle programmes. Key Responsibilities & Tasks The key responsibilities and tasks of the role include: - Deliver the Body Exterior Engineering of Sealing and Glazing commodities into the cross-functional Application team. - Lead and direct the team to ensure designs are fit for purpose and meet the Engineering and Attribute targets - Manage team of Project and CAD Engineers to meet the resource requirement aligned to change content identified by the Application Managers in Project content documents (SEL/PDL) - Ensure integration of best practice and architecture as directed by the Platform (core) Engineering team to ensure that sealing and glazing components integrate effectively with other commodities to achieve all vehicle programme targets and compatibility. - Align design evolution to Virtual series gateways and ensure a robust and achievable plan for Design release into the releasing system is delivered - Ensure standardised documents including Engineering Concept Matrix, BoM and Final Engineering Sign-Off are completed to project timings. - Support Application Responsible Manager to establish appropriate piece and tooling cost targets and maintain cost tracker. - Coordinate functional actions relating to piece/tooling cost gap closure and challenge and optimise D&D costs - Ensure on time system selection and sourcing for all sealing and glazing components. - Track and ensure closure of all open Sealing and Glazing concerns at all stages of the programme in line with required build phase implementation. - Ensure parts/designs for all new programme content are available at required maturity & quality for all physical test and build - Responsible for on time submission of all Sealing and Glazing releases applicable to the programme - Responsible for achievement of required attribute targets, including mass, for all unique programme content. - Accountable for design validation plan (DVP) for all unique programme content and ensure development and sign-off tests are completed on schedule. - Manage team; implement training plans, monitor and measure performance objectives Qualifications & Experience The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes: - Engineering degree (or equivalent) with extensive experience within automotive engineering / product development - Prior experience in development and/or integration of sealing and glazing components and systems on new vehicle programmes - Experienced in leading a team in appropriate Engineering Discipline - Proven project management skills and ability to deliver engineering solutions on time to cost, quality and attribute targets - Understands testing and validation requirements for automotive body systems - Good grasp of engineering fundamentals and familiar with problem solving and failure mode avoidance techniques including DFMEA - Familiar with manufacturing techniques, technology and industry benchmarks applicable to sealing and glazing. - Proficient in the use of Teamcentre / VisMockup to interrogate designs - Knowledge of Mission product creation process - Able to balance conflicting requirements within cross-functional teams and positively influence decisions on product definition and design. - Thorough, data-driven approach to solving engineering issues - Excellent organisational skills, ability to deliver under pressure and manage multiple tasks. - Confident communicator able to present at design reviews and technical forums - Full driving licence - Role may require periods of working at other site(s) in the UK and occasional travel to suppliers in UK and Europe The services advertised by Premea Limited for this vacancy are those of an Employment agency.
