Reports to: Divisional Director Direct Reports: None Main Purpose of the Job We are looking for a Senior Transport Planner to join a growing division to help deliver projects for local and regional clients such as Highways England, Network Rail, Luton County Council, Centro and SPAT. You will support the preparation, development and analysis of transport models and the production of appraisals and data reports for a range of major and minor projects. Main Duties and Responsibilities - Assist the Senior staff and take on technical responsibility of transport project delivery, including trip generation and highway capacity modelling, travel planning and transport strategies - Input to transport planning, strategy, business case, and research projects, and multi-disciplinary projects for a variety of project types, sizes and client types - Prepare technical reports and other project outputs - Implement Traffic and Transport methodologies in consultation with senior colleagues - Prepare high quality reports and technical notes - Liaise with clients/contractors and local / national authorities as required - Resolve problems or issues to support the delivery of projects or design objectives - When required, act as a mentor to junior staff - Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation in working practices What Qualifications, Experience & Skills are; Essential or Preferred to be successful in the role? Essential Qualification - Degree in Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning or a related subject (essential). Preferred Qualification - MSc in Transport Planning/Engineering - Chartered or working towards membership Essential Experience - A minimum of 5 years of Transport Planning experience (the level of experience will determine what level you come in as). - Experience in completing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans for residential and mixed-use developments - Experience in highway / junction design at least at the concept design level - An able user of Arcady, Picady, LinSig, TranSyt, TRICS, TRAVL, Tempro, AutoCAD, Autotrack - Experience of working with public and private sector clients - Experience in working within a team environment in undertaking large strategic modelling projects - Efficient communication skills, excellent level of written and spoken English Preferred Experience - Experience in scoping/appraisal of traffic/pedestrian surveys - Experience in dealing with S38 and S278 Agreements - Project Management in a range of projects at both low and higher values - Able user of SATURN, Legion modelling, Vissim and Civil3D is an advantage Essential Skills - Familiar with current design codes and standards - Report Writing - Communication Preferred Skills - Team Leadership - Project Management - Customer Relations Management
