Senior Systems Engineer

Strategic business unit:
• Our client provides aircraft systems to a diverse group of customers including airline operators, aircraft constructors, private aircraft owners and charter operators, governments and military operations and distributors and repair stations.

Purpose:
• Provides technical and procedure systems engineering expertise in the design, development, testing and verification of Hydro-Mechanical and Electro Mechanical Systems

Specific responsibilities:
System specification and design, including:
• Requirements capture and traceability (DOORS)
• Application of an ARP4754A development process
• System interface negotiation (Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Avionic and Flight Test)
• Customer technical focal /liaison

Senior Systems Engineer
System Integration, including
• Specification and integration of Hardware In the Loop (HIL) test rigs
• System Integration testing / System Requirements validation and verification
• Flight Test Support, analysis of aircraft test data
• Development of test tools and environments (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink.)
• Functional Testing Engineering Requirements for Ground/Flight testing

Simulation Modelling, including:
• System modelling in MATLAB/Simulink, including software functionality
• Development of aircraft, environment and communications models
• Control Algorithm Development, including:
• Development of feedback control schemes and algorithms
• Optimising controller parameters (controller tuning)
• Liaison with system Safety Engineers and review of system level safety analyses in accordance with

ARP4761 and ARP4754A, including:
• PSSA and FT
• SSA and FT
• Functional FMEA

Systems Engineering support of product and business development, including:
• Preparation and/or review of Systems Engineering Data and Document deliverables
• Technical approval of Systems Engineering Data and Document deliverables
• Research and development projects and analyses
• Trade studies
• Development of engineering processes, quality procedures, work instructions

The Systems Engineer will participate in activities in one or more of the areas above:
• Further specific accountabilities / specialism in one (or more) of the above areas may also be assigned.
• Participates in activities in one or more of the areas above
• Plans, organises and controls his/her activities to ensure on-time delivery and the quality of output.
• Actively participates as a member of the Systems Engineering department and project team(s)
• May be assigned as a lead systems engineer role on a project, with responsibility for delegation, supervision and approval of a systems engineering team
• Carries out special projects as assigned.

Key skills and competencies required:
• Experience in System Development Process (new product development) to include requirements development, system design and integration, and system testing.
• Experience in development of systems that comprise multiple LRUs including electronic control units and electrical / hydraulic / hydro-mechanical actuation or similar
• Experience in System simulation and modelling
• Experience working with Electrical and Avionic System integration
• Proficient in the use of requirements management database (e.g. DOORS)
• Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline - preferably Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in a similar role
• Willing to travel overseas
• Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral and written communication skills.

Key skills and competencies desired:
• Working knowledge of Aerospace Qualification and Certification (ARP4754A, DO-178B/C, DO-254, DO-160G, ARP4761, AS8584, ARP1070)
• Experience in ARINC429 and CAN protocols
• Experience in aircraft flight test certification programme
• Experience working with Certification Authorities to achieve system certification to Part 25 - Airworthiness Standards.
• Experience with MATLAB / Simulink
• Experience working in a multi-cultural / international organization
• Experience in team leadership
