Mental Health Support Officer

The Huntercombe Group are specialists in the treatment of mental health problems, learning disabilities and brain injury. They provide help and support to children, young people and adults with mental illnesses or learning difficulties, and people recover and rehabilitate having acquired brain injuries. The provision cares for up to 800 patients and residents nationally on a daily basis, with 26 hospitals and centres across the UK. Your new role

  • You will be based at The Huntercombe Group hospital in the picturesque Staffordshire country side near Stoke on Trent. You will be responsible for the delivery of exceptional levels of day to day support and rehabilitation to adults with mental health and learning disabilities.
  • You will be actively involved in engaging in daily activities, educational programmes, behavioural support programmes and leisure / recreational activities, as outlined in individual care plans.
  • You will ensure the health, safety, welfare and security of patients, colleagues and members of the public are maintained at all times.


What you'll need to succeed

  • You will need to have a naturally caring and supportive nature.
  • You will need to possess some understanding of Mental Health support and rehabilitation in children's services.
  • You will need to be comfortable to work with people showing challenging behaviour.
  • Previous experience of working within a similar care or support setting is an advantage but not essential.
  • It is absolutely essential that you are flexible with shift work, including days, nights and weekends.
  • You will need to be committed to further training and professional career development.
  • You will need to possess a driving license and your own vehicle to work at this site.

  • You will work a 46 hour week and receive a competitive salary of GBP8.47 per hour. (All hours worked in your week over 37.5 will be paid at GBP10.59 per hour - Overtime is also paid at GBP10.59 per hour)
