This is an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join a well-established automotive manufacturing company in Redditch on a permanent basis.

This role offers an attractive salary of £33k - £38k and an early finish on a Friday!

As Quality Engineer, you will be reporting to the Quality Manager. It will be your role to conduct and define Quality Engineering activities to ensure that the product quality fully meets customer requirements and to maintain effective communication with manufacturing personnel to ensure a robust QMS is implemented and maintained within production volume.

You will be responsible for ensuring customer and company quality requirements are maintained throughout the production life.Job responsibilities and major activities / tasks will include:

  • To conduct drawing and specification review as part of feasibility studies. Identify concerns and liaise with relevant internal and customer contacts until these are resolved
  • To ensure that customer requirements are clearly understood and translated into necessary controls and standards
  • To provide active input into PFMEA meetings and subsequent reviews
  • To identify 5C’s and CC’s and concur with the project team
  • To evaluate dimensional and visual assessment of components. Identifying errors and implementing necessary corrective action
  • To assist the Inspection Instructions based on the Control Plan/Gauge Plan/FMEA and gain concurrence form specified areas
  • To conduct pre-production audits on samples prior to despatch to the customer and ensure that they meet specified requirements
  • Assist with preliminary process studies, confirm control limits with Production Engineers, agree actions to correct non-stable/non capable processes
  • To monitor process capability during production and agree actions to correct non stable/non capable processes
  • To ensure quality documentation is updated in line with company procedures
  • To arrange for the inspection of customer returns and provide reports on causes of rejection and corrective action
  • To lead root cause analysis and assist with the resolution of quality concerns as required by company procedures
  • To set quality standards
  • To assist in team member/team leader training in quality issues
  • To lead improvement activities within the company
  • To visit/liaise with customers and suppliers as required
  • Flexibility to undertake training and provide support within Quality Department as required
  • To ensure housekeeping in the Quality area is maintained in a satisfactory condition
  • Active involvement in improvement activities to support departmental and company objectives
  • To communicate by written and verbal means using the Company communication channels to ensure the understanding of colleagues and management
  • To assist in process audits
  • Effective use of QOS charts to present actions and tracking Motivation
  • To provide support to manufacturing teams to resolve quality concerns and promote quality. On receipt of quality concerns, evaluate and implement containment activity, both internally and externally. Providing clear instructions to third party agencies if necessary to maintain customer and company quality levels
  • Planning of workload to ensure completion of activities within agreed timing program
  • Observe and conform to the requirements of Health & Safety at work
