Purchasing Assistant, Coventry, £20,00 to £25,000

Due to continued growth, we are looking for the above person to join our clients rapidly expanding National Distribution Centre Team.
We are looking for an experienced purchasing assistant to work within their busy operation. The purpose of the role is to progress the quotation, purchasing and expediting of supplies from our clients supply partners.
The key responsibilities are as follows:
  • All administrative tasks as required within the department
  • To carry out purchasing and administration procedures accurately and punctually.
    To liaise as required with other departments in the business as to the nature and requirement of
  • customer enquiries and orders. I.e. stock levels, manufacturing & delivery times.
    To assist with stock management and stock taking.
  • To assist the Sales Dept. in sending out material enquiries for competitive/negotiated tenders and establishing relationships with supplier staff and contractors with minimum time delay.
  • To take calls from Sales and suppliers, helping them with information required as well as taking messages/development calls for purchasing department.
  • Preparation of purchasing requisitions/orders to ensure on-time delivery of components and raw materials.
  • Monitor Goods-In process (efficiency, quality, quantity) on an ongoing basis.
  • Liaising with commercial and warehousing functions.
  • Liaise with Suppliers to chase up outstanding orders.
  • Ongoing review and improvement of material control processes/systems.
  • Ensure relevant paperwork flow is consistent and timely.
  • Collating data for KPIs on supplier delivery performance and schedules.
  • Develop and maintain supplier/customer relationships to ensure that communication and supply of
  • information is at the highest level both internally and externally.
Applicants must have previous experience of working within a purchasing function. In addition, candidates must possess the following skills and attributes: -
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Languages an advantage
  • MRP/Forecasting experience desirable
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience of using Excel and other MS Office applications
