The client:

Part of a European Group, the company is a leading injection moulding manufacturer with a strong reputation and customer bases. The factory has benefitted from recent investment that is enabling it to grow in its core market sectors. The role of Maintenance Manager is a key position that is tasked with ensuring that both the maintenance teams and toolroom are positioned to support the needs of the operations team, which in turn ensures customer demands are met. The successful candidate will operate in a ?continuous improvement? culture constantly evaluating the capabilities of the team and resources to ensure they can meet their objectives in the most efficient and cost effective way. Excellent communication skills, proactive problem solving to achieve a long-term solution and good organizational abilities are important attributes for this demanding role.

The role:

  • Management of the maintenance and toolroom teams
  • Hands-on approach to ensure site equipment is maintained to a high standard and unplanned downtime is resolved quickly
  • Ensure safe systems of work, training and competence, whilst working towards a continuous improvement culture
  • Develop and improve the existing TPM/Engineering processes and methods in the production operation through data collection and problem solving techniques
  • Responsible for the engineering budget and management of KPI?s including OEE
  • Create a realistic plan for all equipment with regards to maintenance and repair ensuring the lifespan of each machine is maximised
  • Develop the engineering team including sub-contracted services to meet the maintenance and capital needs of the business whilst minimising costs
  • Recruitment, training and development of new staff as required
  • Leading risk assessments regarding site facilities/equipment, ensuring adherence to safety standards and enforcing industry requirements
  • Management and technical support for all engineering contractors
  • Ensure compliance with all aspects of health and safety, providing assistance and advice to the team and contractors including carrying out appropriate risk assessments
  • Ensure appropriate records and documentation are kept
  • Manage the implementation of small to medium sized capital projects.
  • Identify and meet the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
  • Provide weekly and monthly KPI updates for the management team

Person Profile:

Technical qualifications & experience-

  • Hands-on experience of maintaining injection moulding machines and associated tooling
  • Good understanding of robotics/automation
  • 5-10 years? experience within a manufacturing facility, demonstrating development, set up and management of effective TPM procedures
  • Ability to lead, manage and develop the engineering team as well as specialist visiting engineers
  • Working knowledge of lean tools and methodologies would be an advantage
