Job purpose

To oversee, administer and provide an effective central financial and commercial support service to both division and contracts. Pivotal position within the business for the provision of accurate and timely information of key contracts allowing effective evaluation of contract performance for both internal and external stakeholders whilst supporting Senior Management Team in the adoption of change programmes.

Working closely with the Head of Finance to drive continuous improvement for both process and financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely information including cost value reconciliations and effective cash management as part of normal governance requirements.



Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Finance and Sector Director in the formulation of contract budgets, forecasts and performance trends
  • Together with Sector Commercial Director, and where appropriate, support commercial interfacing with key stakeholders
  • Preparation of contract précis/guides and presentations to improve contract awareness and enable operations teams to understand and effectively manage key commercial and contractual risks
    Take responsibility for the completion of month end processes and supporting monthly Snr Management presentations of contract financial position
  • Ensure all costs are accurately recorded on time and invoiced, effectively managing exposure days within target
  • Report the correct level of cost value reflecting the business performance with variance identification
  • Ensure detailed understanding & review of contracts with emphasis on scope of work / risk and the financial impact
  • Monitor and review the proper use of client systems to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of costs against client instructions
  • Ensure managers and site administration follow financial procedures in order to maintain records, reporting to customer accurate information
  • Assist management in the preparation of periodic and customer reporting, commercial analysis and capital purchases
  • Maintaining and continually developing modelling tools to represent contract KPI performance
    Provide accurate information to external and internal customers within the required time constraints, support production of client SLA';s
  • Maintenance of business unit paperwork and records in line with divisional governance


What we are looking for

  • Proven track record of working within the financial & commercial environment preferably within FM industry with individual contract value +£10M
  • Proven track record in the establishment and mobilisation of new contracts
  • Client experience in demonstrating and articulating financial and commercial positions
  • Ability to demonstrate operational commercial acumen and associated impact on financial numbers
  • Experience of working under own initiative as part of a small team
  • Ownership and influencing of contract performance
  • Excellent knowledge and practice of enhancing internal processes
  • Experience in preparing operational forecasts and budgets
  • Evidence of direct responsibility for cost reduction / margin enhancement
  • Computer literate. Highly proficient in the use of MS Excel and Powerpoint

Person

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified Accountant
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Excellent communication skills both through verbal discussion and presentations
  • Ability to thrive in a highly pressurised and driven environment
  • Ability to think ahead, identify opportunities and create new and innovative approaches to solutions
  • Demonstrates a determination, desire to succeed
  • Build relationships with no site contract owners, resulting in high degree of mobility
