In a nutshell This is a Senior Infrastructure Engineer role within D&T Works within a team of technical resources engaged in delivering Infrastructure Services to Sainsbury's. i.e. diagnosing and fixing faults, preventative maintenance to reduce the incidence of faults, configuring monitoring and job scheduling tools, and creating environments for production and testing, developing techniques for more efficient ways of working Works closely with Service Providers who are engaged with providing Managed Infrastructure Services to Sainsbury's. Reduce costs of the operation through service improvements making Sainsbury's service best value in class. You are a recognised Technology expert in your field - Networking in a virtualised Private Cloud environment Is responsible for producing a high quality, practical, flexible Infrastructure Service that meets the overall requirement of Sainsbury's business Works closely with the Technical Design team to ensure the smooth implementation of solutions as well as the correctly defined support models Works closely with Service Providers who are engaged with providing Managed Infrastructure Services to Sainsbury's Is expected to contribute to the improvement of the Service Operations capability within Sainsbury's What I need to do Ensures the roles and responsibilities of the Team are fulfilled either by themselves or by the managed services provider Acts as the escalation route for more junior members of the team to help resolve issues Works with managed services providers to ensure that the appropriate technical infrastructure service is maintained Communication and engagement with team and any stakeholders with which they interact. Leads the implementation of infrastructure and components in accordance within defined processes Leads the management of issues, incidents and problems within their own area of the business How I will succeed Display of embodiment of Sainsbury's Leadership Behaviours and Sainsbury's Company Values when performing the role Demonstrable participation with project governance structures to review and recommend sign off of design docs with the Team Lead Working closely with managed service providers. Raise service related questions and take responsibility for managing issues found Provide technical support and advice to projects, customers and other areas of D&T Act as a deputy leader of a team of Infrastructure Engineers to deliver solutions and services as required by the Team Lead What I need to know Strong current knowledge in the subjects of the role - including technical knowledge of technologies such as VCE, F5, Checkpoint, Bluecoat, ACI, etc. Holds a relevant professional qualification such as VCP5-DCV, MCSE, CCNP or equivalent Excellent customer service manner Ability to implement processes suited to a sophisticated D&T operation Ability to work on own un-supervised and deliver on time to budget Able to work with technical resources/3rd party resources on small engagements Ability to think methodically and logically and communicate well using spoken and written word Proven success as a job master in similar technical areas Has a broad knowledge and understanding of D&T concepts and architectures with proven experience of successfully managing and maintaining D&T services Has expert awareness of problem solving procedures used for business-critical D&T incidents, and a good awareness of their implications for a retail business Coaches others to make customer-oriented decisions and shares great stories of exceptional customer service Shows visibility to customers as the face of D&T to listen to their concerns and share these with others Accountable for coaching others to take responsibility, own the issue, resolve it (get the required result) and recognises how individual responsibility impacts team delivery Works collaboratively with a range of people to support the wider business agenda Sets challenging but realistic performance standards and supports /develops their team throughout and gives them a sense of belief that they can succeed Acknowledges success and areas for development throughout the team Ensures the team remain informed and engaged on key business information Coaches others to translate complex/technical issues clearly to meet the needs of the audience What I need to show Excellent feedback from customers.
