With over 300,000 members and more than 600 participating employers across the West Midlands, the GBP15 billion Fund is creating a new role, responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, working through collaboration to enable the Fund to deliver evolving services and developments required to meet and exceed objectives set within the Fund Service Plan. The successful applicant will join the Senior Management Team and be directly responsible for delivery of pension benefit operations and system and technical support functions.

An excellent communicator and manager will work across services areas to ensure implementation of operational change and "joined-up" efficiency, compliance and risk management. Applicants must have strong relationship management skills and an ability to work closely with a wide variety of partners and stakeholders, contributing and raising the professional profile of the West Midlands Pension Fund, participating in seminars, conferences, forums etc.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership at a senior management level and will be able to demonstrate a track record of leading, motivating and managing people and systems to achieve significant, sustainable service improvements with outstanding results.

The post holder will be educated to degree level with significant experience in pensions operations management with a relevant professional qualification and is required to have good knowledge and understanding of LGPS scheme regulations and associated national pension legislation developments. The ability to deliver positive change together with a commercial acumen is highly valued.
