Job Title: Materials Controller
Salary/ Rate: Competitive
Location: West Midlands

The role:
To ensure on time delivery of material to maintain manufacturing schedules whilst managing targeted stock levels and minimising cost.


Health, Safety and Environmental
To ensure confirmed standardised work is championed, audited and any revisions made.
To promote Health, Safety and Environmental awareness within the team.
To identify and communicate any potential health and safety problems with new material.


To be focussed on continuous Supplier development.
To monitor / report excessive freight costs.
To monitor / update working procedures when / wherever necessary.
Responsible for monitoring / reporting delivery performance.
To design change / phase out control.
Monitor stock statistics files.
To carry out bi-annual Stock Take' (more often if the need arises).
Stock check on W.I.P. to maintain Just In Time' delivery.
Justifying additional costs where necessary to support business needs.
Monitor incoming containers for Japan stock.
Capacity Planning with Suppliers against long term forecast.


Carry out daily progress checks for Japanese and domestic parts and report any issues / risks to production.
Progress / place weekly orders to Suppliers:
Due to plan increases, place additional orders, on an adhoc basis, as and when the need arises.
Progress delivery discrepancies with Supplier and achieve a positive outcome.
Daily progression of back orders.
To provide On Job Training (OJT) for new Associates within the department.
Responsible for the control of supplier required materials.

Contribute to your own self-development to ensure your knowledge is at the forefront of Supplier development

Key Skills/ Experience required:
Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar role.
Good working knowledge of MRP systems.
Good communication skills discussion / negotiation and presentation to group companies, suppliers, customers and internally.
Understanding of product / component requirements.
Confidence to negotiate with suppliers where necessary.
Initiative to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to collate, review, analyse and present data, utilising IT and report writing skills.
