HOURS: 7AM - 5PM (weekdays) / 7:30AM - 12Noon (alternate Saturdays)


Our client is the largest independent builders merchants in Wales and North-West England. Since their formation in 1990, our client has developed from a single branch on Anglesey to become the largest independent Builders Merchant in the UK in terms of branches.

With their head office in Anglesey, the branch network ranges from Hay-on-Wye down in South Powys up to Bolton in the north-west and across to Derby in the Midlands.

The aim is to be the customer's one-stop shop; they cover all the bases from below-ground drainage products to bricks and blocks, doors, windows and roofing materials.

With the support of their specialist centres, they're able to offer customers the complete package, from matching facing bricks to designing a unique kitchen to fit the budget and lifestyle.

Due to continued growth they are looking to recruit a SENIOR SALES ASSISTANT

for their branch in Stafford.


Working as part of a team, and reporting to the Branch Management Team, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service at all times. Your key responsibilities include:-

  • Counter and telephone sales
  • Maintaining and developing sales leads
  • Following up sales enquiries and quotations
  • Maintaining and developing existing and new customer relationships
  • Achieving and exceeding your sales targets
  • Play a leading role in achieving and exceeding branch targets
  • Understanding margins and costs
  • Continually develop and update your product knowledge
  • Developing productive relationships with our suppliers and their representatives
  • Completing all necessary paperwork in line with Huws Gray procedures
  • Ensuring efficient stock ordering procedures
  • Maintaining clean, tidy and effective product displays
  • Displaying a flexible, hands-on approach to all aspects of the work
  • Working as part of a team but also able to work on your own initiative
  • Helping to develop other Sales staff's skills and knowledge
  • Exceeding our customers' expectations by dealing with them professionally and courteously, by telephone or face-to-face on the sales counter
  • Ensuring a high standard of customer care and service
  • Looking for new and exciting ways to drive the branch sales forward
  • Reporting these ideas to your branch management team and obtaining feedback
  • Being an ambassador for the company at all times
  • Attending in-house and external training as and when required
  • Salary circa. GBP25K +Annual Bonus + Pension
