We have vacancies supporting adults for Part-time (7 hours per week) and Relief Support Workers (covering Sickness and Annual Leave) in our Supported Living service in Monkmoor, Shrewsbury.

About the role

Two gentlemen (late 40s/early 50s) sharing a house; One very independent and one needs 24 hour support when not at his farm work placement Mon- Fri. Staff need to be active and with a can do attitude, willing to support the gentlemen to develop new skills and independence. They must be kind, caring, patient and willing to join in their favourite pastimes and hobbies.

One gentleman loves going out to clubs, canoeing, visiting family and friends, watching TV, listening to music and playing bingo. The other gentleman loves doing DIY, cooking, household chores, going out and about on his bike, on the bus and volunteering for local countryside groups. He also likes gardening, maintenance work and just being involved in all that is going on. As well as listening to music on his laptop and watching TV especially soap operas.

Some times they require help with intimate care such as showering and prompting.

The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable. We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins.

What we need from you

Experience is not necessary, as we provide a full induction and free training programme, so this role is suitable for a trainee. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach and are willing to learn.

Salaries are dependent on successful completion of a 6 month probation period. Part time positions are paid pro rata, and we pay £35 per sleep-in. Relief Support Workers are paid £7.55 per hour whilst Support Workers are paid £7.60 per hour (Probation) £7.70 per hour (Post Probation).
