Job Summary

The purpose of the job is to translate Care UK’s clinical strategies and models of care into the delivery of care for patients being treated at the Centre.

To develop the necessary relationships between partner healthcare organisations within the NHS and Social Services.
To provide clinical and professional leadership to all nursing staff and to work in partnership with other health care professionals, ensuring the clinical team works cohesively and effectively to deliver a high standard of patient care. This will involve leading by example, facilitating professional and clinical development, ensuring all competency and training requirements of staff are met to ensure the safe and effective delivery of care.

The job also requires the post holder in the absence of the Unit Manager, to act up in this position. This includes to be the clinical lead in the collection, analysis, and the interpretation of data for Key Performance Indicators, PHPQIs, Clinical Risk and Audit, related to Care UK’s Clinical Governance programme.

Key Responsibilities

• To have responsibility for the delivery of Clinical Patient Services to achieve defined centre, divisional and national targets: including actively monitoring patient satisfaction and the monitoring of patient health outcomes.
• To have responsibility in ensuring clinical Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are met.
• When rostered to take the role of shift leader, allocating staff and resources effectively.
• Prioritise patient care throughout the unit.
• Support junior staff with supervision and development.
• Undertake clinical staff appraisals.
• Manage under performing junior staff members.
• Assess junior staff on core nursing competencies.
• Take the lead role in event of any major incident within the unit.
• Assist in the orientation and support of new staff to the unit.

Skills & Experience

• Experienced at a senior level in an:
Acute setting.
Primary Care
or another related area
• Experienced in leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience of performance management of clinical staff members.
• Experience of working autonomously.
• Evidence of team leadership and supervision of junior staff.
• Evidence of teaching and assessing others.
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Evidence of autonomous working.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Basic IT skills.
• Ability to demonstrate clinical expertise and knowledge of audit.
• Demonstrable critical reasoning skills and decision making.
• Demonstrable evidence of multi-professional/multi-agency working.
• Provide evidence of autonomous skills in physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment e.g. portfolio.
• Ability to prioritise patient care.
• Perceptive, flexible and effective leadership skills.
• Ability to demonstrate effective use of staff and resources.
• Ability to literature search and procedure protocols based on a best practice evidence base.
• Experienced in investigation of clinical incidents and monitoring of clinical key performance indicators

Additional Information

This is a permanent, full time role working 37.5 hours per week.

The salary is up to £32,500, depending on experience.

• 1st level Registered Nurse with current registration with the UK Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC).
• BSc or BA Health Studies or equivalent subject
• Teaching and assessing qualification.
• Evidence of Continuous Professional development (CPD).
• Post registration qualification in autonomous practice or equivalent.
