Reed Human Resources are working with a leading global law firm based in Birmingham city centre.

Working closely with the Head of HR, EMEA, the International HR Advisor (HRA) will provide HR support on all aspects of operational HR and projects to specific teams or levels of staff within the EMEA region. Be the primary point of contact for all Legal PA, Paralegal, Solicitor and Associate issues within the EMEA region.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Talent Management
• Support the delivery of the EMEA region wide talent management plan and promotion pipeline;
• Support and encourage the process of career pathways/conversations for all individuals in the EMEA region to enable informed promotion planning at each promotion round;

Performance Management & Appraisals
• In conjunction with the Head of HR, EMEA, ensure the annual performance appraisal process is completed in a timely and fair manner;
• Encourage the pursuit of excellence in performance at all levels;
• Coach and influence managers from a people perspective, developing their people management/leadership skills and constructively challenging inappropriate behaviours/actions;
• Work with the International HR Shared Services (HRSS) team to ensure appropriate records of appraisals and performance management are maintained for the EMEA region.

Employee Relations
• Champion the development of people management skills within the EMEA region;
• Take responsibility for all core ER operational processes across the EMEA region including exit interviews, flexible working requests, absence management, performance management, grievance and disciplinary processes;
• Check HRSS monthly reports and review any action points;
• Prepare monthly EMEA HR reports;
• Provide support and guidance to the International HRSS team.

Recruitment
• Provide proactive recruitment support to agreed teams or levels of staff within the EMEA region, ensuring recruitment excellence is maintained at all times;
• Act as the main HR point of contact for all new starter administration over and above HRSS support;

Compensation
• With support from the Head of HR, EMEA, manage the annual staff salary review process for allocated teams within the EMEA region.

Processes, Policy & Procedure development
• Responsible for regularly reviewing and updating policies and guidelines for the EMEA region, whilst liaising with the Policies and Projects Officer in the UK, Compensation and Benefits team
• Keep abreast of Employment Legislation and best practice developments within the EMEA region and ensure HR policies are kept up to date;

Projects
• Along with the Head of HR, EMEA, take responsibility for managing HR&L projects within the EMEA region
• Create and execute HR project work plans for the EMEA region and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
• Undertake research within the local EMEA markets to identify market practices and statutory requirements in order to provide recommendations and solutions;

Induction
• Deliver local induction programmes as required and ensure that all material supports best practice induction training and are in line with the strategy of the firm;
• Review progress of new joiners across the designated teams or EMEA region with partners prior to confirmation of permanent position;
• Ensure probationary reviews are completed.

Other
• Where required, support HRA and HRM colleagues in providing day to day HR support for their local office, such as interviews and disciplinary meetings etc.

Qualifications

 CIPD membership desirable.

Relevant Experience

 Previous HR Advisor experience is essential.
 Experience of managing annual HR processes within a legal environment is a requirement.

Key Skills

 A good working knowledge of employment legislation and best practice, although knowledge of local EMEA legislation is not expected;
 Experience of advising managers or partners on policies and procedures';
 Experience of dealing with all levels of staff in a persuasive and credible manner';
 Experience of working in a service environment';
 Good listening and problem solving skills.
