Business Analyst

To provide business analysis services into the Water Upper Quartile Infra programme; more specifically, the Work & Workforce Management Workstream. To be accountable for delivering business analysis for business change projects. To produce business analysis deliverables including performance analysis, documented processes, solution analysis and capturing requirements. To build strong links with business teams, ensuring best practice is developed, shared, implemented, recorded and tracked.

Key Accountabilities:

• The identification of business requirements, consideration and development of business strategies and feasibility reports - through conducting investigations at levels up to and including Senior Management

• Undertake detailed analysis and DILO's when required, using information supplied from different disciplines and demonstrate this using a variety of applications (including Minitab) to produce informed recommendations

• The detailed specification and modelling of recommended solutions (including Businesses Processes, Procedures, Data and Organisation), using appropriate tools and techniques consistent with company standards and best practice

• Support business change solution development including the delivery of business change activities (e.g. operational effectiveness, process change etc.)

• Support the implementation of solutions working with Project Managers, our operational teams and wider stakeholders

• Ensure that analysis supports the creation of benefit realisation plans

• Travel and work at various sites / locations across the company region, attending local Comm Cells where required and supporting local teams in implementing change programmes, including being flexible with working hours

• Confidently facilitate workshops involving staff at any level


• Relevant experience either through strategic business analysis within a business area or through working on Projects in a Business Analyst role (business change focussed)

• A high level of knowledge of relevant standards and methods (e.g. PRINCE2, CBAP, business change tools and methods)

• Good understanding of utilities' business

• Ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with people from a wide variety of backgrounds

• Sufficient presence and credibility to influence working relationships

• High level of management skill

• Ability to translate business needs into specified requirements and to work strategically and tactically to realise organisational goals

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Understanding of underlying issues in complex problems or situations, relating these to better understood concepts

• Confident in stakeholder engagement by obtaining buy in to recommendations

In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have:


• GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English

• Access to transport to enable working on remote ST sites

• Desirable:

• Degree in a related discipline or equivalent

• Green Belt accredited

• Advanced skills in PowerPoint or similar presentation packages

• Recognised qualification in Business Change or Project Management
