We have a vacancy supporting adults for a Senior Support Worker in our new service in Church Stretton, 10 miles south of Shrewsbury. You could be the first person to hold this role so a great chance to help shape the new service. The role is for 30 hours per week and only open to Female applicants.

About the role

As a Senior, you'll support your Frontline Manager with developing rotas, and deputising for them in their absence. You'll work with the staff team, carrying out supervisions, mentoring them and identifying training opportunities, whether formal or informal.

You will play a key part in assisting the brother and sister we support to live as independently as possible. They are in their late 40s / early 50s and are moving out of the family home for the first time. They attend day service in the week; Both are known and welcomed in the community and need support to continue this connection. They also need support with finances, medication, food prep and shopping, accessing the community and maintaining their good relationship with their family as they are very close. The lady needs a lot of emotional support as well.

Other hobbies and activities they enjoy are walking, cinema, socialising, gardening, generally getting out and about and having fun. They are mostly independent but some help with personal care, prompting and bathing will be required.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins (3 per week).

What we need from you

This may be a great opportunity for you if you have experience as a care worker supporting vulnerable people and want to take the next step in your career. It's a new service, so you can make your mark right from the start.

It is essential for this position that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, together your own transport which is insured for business use. You must also have held your driving licence for 12 months or more.

Salaries are dependent on successful completion of a 6 month probation period and part time positions are paid pro-rata. We pay £35 per sleep-in.
