Our client is an extremely successful global leader within the Automotive industry looking for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join the company and put their expertise into practise. They are primarily looking for someone to support the Quaility Manager in the day to day running of the Quaity function.

Senior Quality Engineer

Summary of Position:

  • To support the Quality Manager in the day to day running of the quality function, to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved and maintained, at optimum costs, in order to enhance both company performance and long-term business development
  • To take a lead role in the laboratory area, PPAP practices, quality system development and the delivery of quality initiatives across the value streams

Senior Quality Engineer

Core Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that the quality department operates within the overall agreed objectives whilst maintaining an efficient service to others
  • Support and develop staff to ensure a continued high level of performance in order to meet that division’s operating requirements
  • Quality system development across the value streams and within the quality function.
  • Introduction of quality initiatives across the business, ensuring that all initiatives are applied across all value streams to the same level
  • Maintain and complete company and customer process and system audit systems, and supporting techniques and practices
  • Continuous improvement and problem-solving support across the value streams and within the quality function, including leading quality improvement teams (e.g. scrap reduction activity)
  • Liaison with other sites to standardise best practice techniques.
  • Specification, installation and maintenance of systems
  • Involvement internally and with suppliers in support of the design, specification, and commissioning of new machinery and inspection systems.
  • Involvement in sourcing and capital approval activity for the Quality function
  • Application of quality core tools within the business to improve customer satisfaction and prevent quality concerns, including FMEA, Control Plans APQP
  • Operate within the TS16949 quality system, processes, procedures, including the interpretation and adoption of customer specific requirements
  • Deputise for the quality manager as necessary, including attendance at operational meetings at all levels
  • Support for customer APQP submissions, launch and feasibility activity
  • Assist the Quality Manager with liaison with corporate quality to monitor, understand and implement quality initiatives into the business.
  • Support Customer and 3rd party certification audits
  • Management of customer quality relationships, including onsite visits worldwide, to support APQP / new business activity, and customer response management
  • Support quality activity across global locations, as necessary
  • Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of self and others at all times.
  • Any other reasonable duties that may be assigned in line with business needs.

Education/ Experience/ Skills:

Target Qualification:

  • Experience gained in an automotive engineering background
  • Relevant people management experience (ILM)
  • Automotive knowledge in SPC, FMEA, Control planning, PPAP (Core tools)
  • Quality audit knowledge
  • Metallurgical knowledge
  • Engineering based undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  • Understanding of ISO/TS16949
  • Practical Problem Solving
