My client is a leading design, manufacturer and installer of metal fabricated products for the building / construction industry. They are actively seeking an experienced CAD / Contracts Engineer / Manager to join their team.

Working within the Contracts Office, the job involves interpretation and processing of customers’ orders. Projects undertaken vary in size and complexity, and can be from small orders through to major projects involving several hundred products. The work involves a high level of detail and accuracy, and necessitates liaising with Architects, Building Contractors and End Users.

The role necessitates good communication skills, smart appearance, and a willingness to work as part of a small team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:-

To perform the job successfully, the employee will be required to carry out the following duties (however other duties may be assigned):-

Study and interpret new order documents.
Read quotations produced by the company’s Sales Department.
Identify customer’s requirements from customer drawings and specifications.
Raise technical queries with customer by phone, fax, e-mail or hardcopy.
Answer customer’s technical queries which can be by phone, fax, e-mail, or hardcopy.
Advise customer of any non-compliances in specification in relation to Building Regs, British Standards and/or the scope of our products and certification.
Prepare project drawings using existing AutoCAD templates and create new AutoCAD drawings for bespoke designs when needed.
Assist with the implementation of Solidworks 3D modelling system.
Work with and create schedules using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
Attend customer meetings where necessary – and take site measurements where required.
Submit drawings to customer for approval.
Amend drawings in accordance with comments received.
Re-submit drawings if significant amendments.
Identify any commercial issues which are at variance with quotation and order.
Notify customer of price changes.
Raise “Acknowledgment of Order” documentation and issue to customer.
Raise “Works Order” and issue to works.
Maintain and issue all documents in accordance with Document Control System.

Experience / Qualifications:-

The position will require: - smart / tidy appearance, good communication skills, general mathematical skills, common sense and the ability to read and interpret documentation and specifications.
Experience in the use of common software packages including AutoCAD, Solidworks (or other similar CAD packages) and Microsoft Office packages (including Word, Excel and Outlook), is essential.

The role will generally be office based, although from time to time visits to customer’s sites will be necessary.

This position should be of interest to experienced Manager's but could also be of interest to somebody who may be looking for their first step into a Managerial career.
