Job Specification: QA Automation Tester/Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for passionate and collaborative automation tester to join our development team based in Warwickshire. The role will require the development of technical solutions to advance test processes and validate the quality of applications. It's important that strong prior technical experience and techniques are utilised to develop test frameworks/products, automated tests and to enable continuous delivery. Reporting to the QA manger the following skills will be required:

Essential Skills:

  • 2-3 years + of automation testing experience writing and maintaining automated test suites
  • Confident in writing automated tests in java/python or similar language
  • Experience of a wide range of automation tools and frameworks including but not limited to selenium, cucumber, robot, TestNG etc
  • Evidence of implementing automation frameworks
  • Experience of SQL Server and oracle Databases
  • Experience of Version control tools such as SVN
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge and experience of working in Agile teams
  • Experience of working with web applications and servers such as Tomcat
  • Experience of a defect tracking tools such as JIRA
  • Strong desire to understand and resolve difficult technical issues
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a software development team
  • Experience of BDD/TDD principles
  • ISTQB certified

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of Android, Gradle, Espresso, Appium and mobile applications
  • Exposure to IDE’s such as Android Studio and Intellij
  • Experience of RESTful API’s
  • Experience of performance testing of web running Load, Stress and Soak tests against the applications and identifying weak points
  • Experience or knowledge of security testing techniques and procedures with exposure to OAUTH2 and Spring security
  • Compatibility testing using emulators and real devices.
  • Experience of development and configuration of Continuous Integration processes

Personal Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An interest and enthusiasm for working in IT/QA/software testing
  • Methodical approach with the ability to be creative

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the implementation, development and maintenance of automated test cases and frameworks for new and exisiting functionality
  • Utilise open source tools and libraries to conduct functional and non functional testing
  • Coach and mentor regarding automated test practices, providing feedback on tests created by other team members
  • Perform manual and exploratory testing to effectively identify issues and gaps in automated regression test cases
  • Be instrumental part of the agile team bringing forward ideas, solutions and promoting best practice
  • Provide progress and quality updates regarding projects.
