Buyer New Product Development - £40,000 - £50,000 + Benefits Established and Growing Blue Chip Business

Due to growth, a long established and growing business within Birmingham is looking to add a Buyer to its buying and new product development team.

The company is a leading business within their field with market leading products and supply a high number of independent retailers, big named retailers such as John Lewis and Waitrose and major online customers such as Amazon. The company also export a wide range of products into an extensive amount of countries worldwide.

As the Buyer and Product Developer you will be responsible for:

Developing the category strategy for your assigned product portfolio; trend and competitor analysis

Management of products from initial concept of idea and design, sourcing products, all the way through to management of Far East suppliers. We are specifically looking for a candidate that has an eye for products that will sell and the ability to understand your retail customer

Development and management of critical path plans for each product season will be critical to your success

Management of Far Eastern factories, negotiation of price and delivery

Building solid working relationships with various internal teams including Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain & QC

The successful Retail Buyer will have the following skills and experience:Have worked within a product buying NPD role previously, ideally you will be working with products that are for consumer markets bought either through independents, high end retailers or online businesses such as Amazon.

Must have Far East supplier experience

Experience of managing a full product life cycle, from product concept and design, product development, supplier management and manufacture to product delivery for orders. Must also have solid project management skills with the ability to work within a fast-paced environment with strict timescales.

Team player with the ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

In return the Buyer / Product Developer will receive a salary of £40,000 - £50,000 dependant on experience plus the opportunity to progress long term.
