Principal Programmer - AAA Console Studio - Midlands

Amiqus have partnered with an exciting AAA games development studio based in the Midlands who are looking to hire a talented Principal Programmer to join their growing team. The studio have released some of the highest grossing games in the console market and are looking for someone to help push the quality bar and own the gameplay side for their new title currently in development.

As the Principal Programmer, your primary responsibility will be to work closely with the Technical Director to define the vision of the title. You will be working on a brand new project and will have the opportunity to take control and be able to implement fun and easy to use features, which allow fast and fluid gameplay and enables the player to have a great experience with each level.

The studio are working on a new unique project, which they're aiming to dominate its genre and create its own gameplay style in the process. The role will allow you to be hands-on, with some mentoring responsibilities and the chance to progress to a Lead if you wish.

The successful candidate will work closely with Game/Level designers, Artists and Animators in defining the core gameplay systems of the title, such as player progression, UI, interaction, inventory management, bug fixing and player movement/controls. This role would suit a good generalist who likes to get involved with multiple areas and build the foundations to the title.

Requirements

*At least 5 years' experience in the games industry
*Worked on at least 2 console titles
*Strong C++ knowledge
*Past mentoring or lead experience
*Past experience on fast-paced titles would be a bonus
