We are currently recruiting in our Procurement Department for a Senior Buyer. This is a fixed term position for 12 months. We are looking for an experienced individual to primarily scope the logistics spend to identify opportunities in order to deliver the best value to the UK business. Your challenge In this role the key responsibilities will include: * To create a strategic Category Management process for Logistics spend; a responsibility of up to £150m spend across sites within the UK Group. * To support the delivery of the OGSM targets for UK Group Procurement. * To deliver savings / cost avoidance as per team and personal targets. * To manage the supply base to ensure they deliver BEST Quality, Service, Cost, Innovation & Continual Improvement with internal customers and our supply base. * To create a detailed spend analysis that can identify the priorities for our strategic 1-5 year plan, feeding into the budget, reforecasting process and business strategy for Logistics. * To ensure engagement is in place with our stakeholders to understand their needs / requirements and develop Category Strategies obtaining business sign off at the relevant GO financial levels. * To manage the SAP implementation ensuring the procurement policy and audit compliance is in place throughout the UK Group. * To provide a monthly report on project status and comply with all requirements set. * To create and maintain robust documented procedures for UK procurement & the business which comply with Group procurement policy and control and audit requirements. * To ensure we have 100% adherence within the Group to our procedures and policies by ensuring systems / SAP meets the business requirements. * To ensure we deliver BEST Quality, Service, Cost, Innovation & Continual Improvement with internal customers and our supply base. * To engage with our stakeholders to understand their needs / requirements and develop Category Strategies obtaining business sign off at the relevant GO financial levels. * To implement strategies / savings plans effectively (through cross functional working) and measure success through savings trackers reported to the business monthly. * To drive cost reduction projects and monitor achievement performance against target and implementation times. * To identify future value creation opportunities from external benchmarking and best practice. Key Deliverables: (To achieve agreed targets in the following) * Reduction in spend due to ability to leverage - target and focus on savings delivery. * Input into budget planning & reforecasting process. Supplier Management * To rationalise supply base and leverage spend within the Group. * To ensure we proactively manage supplier performance. * To ensure we meet our contract terms, T&Cs, best payment terms and adhere to our legal policies. * To implement a supplier relationship strategy to drive improved performance and relationships. * To ensure the business is corporately responsible and acts ethically in all our trading relationships. Key skills & experience * Degree educated or appropriate work experience is essential. * CIPS or appropriate work experience is essential. * Experience within the dairy industry or food manufacturing is essential. * SAP experience is essential. * Excellent intellectual, analytical and numerical skills. * Ability to think strategically and plan for the longer term without forgoing the ability to understand issues operationally. * Drive and dynamism, with high levels of competitive spirit and energy. * At least 5 years' experience in Procurement. * Able to build strong commercial relationships with key suppliers / internal customers. * Credible individual who is able to network and capture best practice improvement opportunities.
