If talking and listening to people comes naturally, you could be part of a team who make sure that when people call us about their bills, they experience the very best customer service.
About the role
You'll start with 6-weeks of training - on and off the job. Then you'll be well prepared to take calls from customers about anything and everything to do with billing - they could be worried about water usage, moving to a new address or perhaps they need their bill in a different format... It's a fun, fast-moving environment where we recognise a job well done and, as our people will tell you, it feels good to represent a company that provides such a vitally important service. Unlike some contact centre jobs, there's no pressure to sell. All you need to do is to provide a positive and accurate service - one that represents Severn Trent Water at its very best.
You've ideally worked in a people-focused role before but we don't insist on contact centre experience. We look for people who are good listeners with strong attention to detail - you need to absorb what customers tell you and then provide the right information. Most of the time you'll be taking calls, but there's some 'tying up' work too - you'll need to be comfortable using a computer, for example to log call details or send an email. You'll need to be prepared to work shifts any time between 8.00am and 9.00pm Monday to Friday (Inc. bank holidays) and 8.00am to 5.30pm on a scheduled Saturday. We do our best to be fair and flexible when we share out shifts so if you do work a Saturday you will have two consecutive days off the following week. We offer career progression opportunities where you will be rewarded once multi-skilled in the role. We can discuss this in more detail at the first stage interview. You must possess GCSE's grades C and above or equivalent in Maths and English.
Severn Trent Water is the world's fourth largest privately owned water company, listed on the FTSE 100 and serving 8 million customers. We care about what we do and how we do it. Always looking for improvements, we want to be known as the UK's best water business. To achieve it we need can-do people who want to develop their skills as fast as we progress our business.
Be part of the future of our water. In return, we offer some excellent rewards including 25 days holiday, a contributory pension, life assurance and personal accident cover, discounts on shopping, energy bills and Severn Trent shares plus a performance reward scheme that lets you earn up to 10% of your basic salary. Following succesful completion of your probationary period after 7-9 months, you can expect to receive an increase in your salary to £19,239. If this sounds like an ideal opportunity for you, then we'd like to hear from you. We have a two-stage recruitment process. The first stage will take place week commencing 16th October, well talk you through the details of each role, the shifts, salary and training in more detail. If you're successful, well invite you to the second stage which is an assessment taking place week 2nd & 3rd November. The starting date for this role is 4th December.
