Are you looking for a little job on the side - 8 hours per week?

Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them live life on their own terms?

MacIntyre is a leading national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. Our core belief is that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.

We have a vacancy for a Male Support Worker in our new service in Church Stretton, 10 miles south of Shrewsbury. This is a Part-time position (8 hours per week) that we currently have available. We are only accepting Male Applicants at this time due to an occupational requirement.

About the role

The service has been set up to allow a brother and sister to move into their first home after flying the nest, so they can live as independently as possible. They are in their late 40s / early 50s and attend day service in the week; Both are known and welcomed in the community and need support to continue this connection. They are looking for people who are caring, empathetic and are easy to talk to. They need support with finances, medication, food prep and shopping, accessing the community and maintaining their good relationship with their family as they are very close.

We are looking for a male applicant in order that the brother can have some 1-1 'man time' as the rest of the service is staffed by female Support Workers supporting his sister. He is a fun, energetic character. His hobbies and interests include cinema, walking on the Long Mind and other local places, going out and about, gardening, socialising with friends and family.

The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable. We will provide you with full training and day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service.
