The Role: The role of the Systems Engineer for Telematics Systems is to: - lead the end-to-end design of Telematics systems including eCall (European eCall, Russia ERA GLONASS and emerging requirements in the middle east) - establish and influence the appropriate use cases and DVP methods to sign-off telematics system operation - interact with the relevant Industry Forums on Telematics designs and standards - interact with the relevant Industry Forums on ITS and eCall standards (including GOST 54618, 54619, 54620, 55530, 55531, 55533, 55534, CEN 16062, 16072, 15722...) - specify the relevant technical standards for On-board Telematics systems, having translated the general industry standard into specific requirements - act as a consultant on all technical matters relating to Telematics systems, interfacing at all levels, suppliers and industry technical groups Skills Required: 1. Proven record of specification writing/reviewing and implementation. 2. Automotive electrical architecture 3.Cellular wireless communications technologies including 2G, 3G, LTE, 4G Experience Required: - Familiarity with the DOORS requirements capture and management environment and with model-based functional definition and development - Good experience of UML modelling - especially sequence diagrams and use cases - Expert knowledge of FMEA - including tools such as Byteworx Familiarity with vehicle networks including CAN, LIN, Ethernet and Flexray CAN and associated tool chain including CANALYSER, CANOE - Good knowledge of telematics protocols including NGTP 2.0, MQTT, ACP245 and similar - Good knowledge of Internet protocols including IP (UDP and TCP), AVB, https (TLS), HTML5, IPv4/6 Good knowledge of security - including payload and transport layer security Experience Preferred: - A flexible approach, willingness to adapt to changing needs as the project evolves - Good communication skills, written, electronic and verbal - Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Project - Good knowledge of systems engineering - Good knowledge of product design and operation - Test plan generation, management and reporting - Understanding of automation techniques and test rig support - Support of test and validation teams throughout the development cycle - Support resolution of technical issues Fault log analysis and resolution - Understanding of cellular wireless communications technologies including 2G, 3G, LTE etc. - Understanding of antenna systems including cellular, fixed wireless, antenna diversity and MIMO - Fully understand the following legislation European eCall, Russia ERA GLONASS - System Evaluation planning and implementation The Company: Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced.
