Role: Systems Development Engineer - Future Engine Technology Research Location: Coventry, Warwickshire Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 (dependent on proven ability) + excellent bens Leading powertrain technology business is seeking a Systems Development Engineer. You will join my clients' Engine Management Systems team located in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity for a degree educated engineer who has a solid grounding in combustion engine fundamentals; ideally you will have gained industry experience in a related business and role. The role offers significant variety of work. This ranges from on-going projects with automotive OEM's, future engine technology research projects and new product projects. There will also have the opportunity to visit and work with key clients. This will also require some occasion European travel. Role/Responsibilities This position will provide you with the opportunity to work within our advanced engineering teams with a research and development focus, developing and promoting components to potential new customers in Europe. You will investigate new mechanisms behind future engine and vehicle technologies specifying component requirements. You will be involved with designing and implementing prototypes, both in terms of engine and vehicle software, to help demonstrate these technologies to our customers. You will act as an interface between our European customers and our Research and Development department, with which you will collaborate closely. You will also be involved in gathering and considering European powertrain (system and component) technology trend information to contribute towards our "road map" of powertrain technology needs / requirements into the future. Requirements You will typically have a passion for technical products and are likely to have a degree in engineering or comparable education with a focus on mechanical, automotive or electronics engineering. * The proven ability to manage an electro-mechanical system development project is essential, as is experience of powertrain related systems. * Fundamental knowledge of IC engine combustion and engine control will be expected. * Knowledge of Matlab, Simulink or similar are also essential. * You will be comfortable working either independently or in teams and will demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills. * You should be highly self-motivated, with the ability to be flexible and able to use your initiative.
