The main purpose of the Finance Assistant role within the Finance team is to ensure an effective process for Accounts Payable and cash/banking for the Group UK companies. The role demands a dedicated and motivated individual who is focussed on ensuring that all transactions are posted accurately and in a timely manner. Working within a small team you will also be expected to carry out tasks relating to other functions within the department so as to ensure continuity of service to the departments 'customers'.

Main Responsibilities

  • Processing of all purchase invoices for all UK companies on Sage in a timely manner

  • Ensure Supplier Statement reconciliations completed monthly in line with monthly timetable

  • Reconciliation of purchase invoices - Sage on a weekly basis

  • Dealing with supplier queries arising on a timely basis

  • Processing of all employee expenses and credit card statements ensuring all receipts are received and matched

  • Preparation of proposed supplier payments and loading of such payments to the banking system (when authorized)

  • Ensure that all tasks are processed in accordance with the accounting timetable and to carry out the month end accounting procedures to close the cashbook, post journals and compile reports.

  • Responsible for keeping up-to-date process and systems procedural documentation

  • Provide appropriate cover for other members of the Finance team.

  • Supporting the Management Accountants as and when required

  • Ad hoc duties as required.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of SAGE 50 Accounts

  • Experience of previous cashiering and preparing bank reconciliations

  • A strong desire to effect continuous improvements to the systems and processes that are within the scope of the role as defined; documenting procedural changes as necessary
