Vehicle Technician Trainer

Are you a fully qualified vehicle technician?

Are you interested in getting out of the day to day stresses of a vehicle technicians job and learn something new?

Would you be interested in teaching what you know to apprentice engineers in a classroom environment?

I am looking for a fully qualified vehicle technician who can teach vehicle maintenance to apprentice engineers.

This is a permanent position paying GBP27,000 - rising to GBP29,687.

You do not need any formal teaching qualifications - you will learn on the job and get help with this.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to get out of a garage environment and move into a teaching position.

The job is based within the Leamington Spa area.

Note: This is a genuine job - it isn't some kind of sales pitch asking you to pay for a teaching qualification - the company want someone who is a skilled and qualified vehicle technician - they will help you to learn teaching skills while working.

The company are very well established they have trained JLR engineers for many years. The working environment is clean and tidy.

Salary: GBP progressing to GBP on successful completion of the probation period.

The purpose of the role is to train and assess apprentice engineers to learn engine build and engine repair, support young engineers to achieve their qualifications, provide feedback on progress, guide and coach engineering best practice, develop and deliver training and assessment material. Basically helping apprentice engineers to learn how to the job properly.

The job will involve maintaining workshop equipment; teach health & safety to apprentice engineers, develop the skills of students in the workshop, to prepare & set-up physical materials and equipment for workshop activities, carry out maintenance on tools and workshop equipment and to track student progress.

Normal hours are 37 hours per week

Due to the nature of the work - if you are successful - you will need to be DBS checked as you will be working with young people.

Annual Leave
The holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum plus 12 statutory days, pro rata.

Note: A level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline is essential, e.g. City & Guilds Advanced Craft or NVQ Level 3 etc.

A teaching qualification is not required for this position - but if you have one teaching experience that is obviously an asset. The successful candidate will need to be willing to undertake a certificate of education so you will become qualified (this will not cost you anything).

Current experience in an Engineering workshop environment is required

You will need excellent administrative and organisational skills to do the job.
You will need a flexible approach, and be able to talk to student diplomatically.
You will need to be able to motivate others, work under pressure and have an enthusiastic attitude.

This is a great opportunity to join a large professional engineering company.
