Catholic Primary School Graduate Teaching Assistant - Central Birmingham - September 2017

Have you hold a Catholic certificate or experience of working in a Catholic School?

Do you have a 1st class or 2:1 Honours degree from a good university?

Are you looking to gain invaluable experience in a primary school ahead of studying to become a teacher in the future?

Are you patient, caring and adaptable? Three qualities of a good teaching assistant.

***Primary Teaching Assistant
***Central Birmingham Primary School
***Full time, term time position
***GBP55-65 per day
***September start

My client school is a Catholic primary based in the heart of Warwickshire. The school is easily reached from Birmingham and Solihull and is found on a number of bus routes. From September the school are keen to recruit at least one, possibly two graduate teaching assistants on a full time, term time basis.

This Catholic school is very much a community primary with strong links existing between the governors, parents and teaching staff. The school's pupils are predominately from white middle class backgrounds although there are a small number of pupils who don't have English as their first language, enriching the diversity of the school. The school are keen to promote Catholic values and these values are the very foundation for its success.

As a graduate teaching assistant you will be tasked with supporting the teacher in one of the school's Year 5 or Year 6 classes. Depending on the topic / subject for the day you could well be supporting the whole class or at times working with smaller groups of pupils. At all times you will be helping to raise attainment in both numeracy and literacy and so you need to be confident in these areas.

Being a good Teaching Assistant is all about adding value to a class. You will need to be flexible (as every day is different), adaptable and very hard working. You will be expected to come prepared for the days lesson(s) in order that the pupils really benefit from your time at the school. On top of this the ability to be proactive and see what needs to be done, rather that constantly waiting for instructions from the teacher is paramount.

This classroom based experience will give you a real insight in to the daily challenges a teacher faces and will help prepare you for a future career as a teacher. This experience will also give your PGCE application the gravitas required to secure a place at a good university for your studies.

If you're 100% committed to education and are looking to gain experience prior to teacher training then my Catholic primary school could be just the ticket.
