Due to the new partnership between Birmingham City Council and Hays, we are now looking to recruit a Solicitor to work in the heart of the city centre on a temporary basis. Your new role
As a Solicitor / Barrister, you will be working within the Legal Services department to provide legal services to the City Council departments, its officers and employees. You will be required to carry out the duties of a Solicitor to the departments of the council in connection with such matters as may be allocated. You will also be required to conduct casework where required and act as an advocate in courts, inquiries, arbitrations and tribunals for the council. In addition, you will be available to provide assistance to the Head of Law and Senior Soliciting team with regards to conducting legal casework.
What you'll need to succeed
It is essential that you have a current Practising Certificate or a Lawyer with demonstrably equivalent skills, abilities and knowledge. You must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of your relevant area of law and an ability to utilise transferable skills if experienced in a different area of law. You must possess the ability to communicate concisely and be able to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role as required by Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016. Evidence of continuous professional development as required by the Law Society and Bar Council is also essential.
