RMS is acting as an Employment Business on behalf of our client, a tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry are recruiting a NPI Quality Engineer to join them on a permanent basis at their plant in Wolverhampton

Overview

Experienced Quality Engineer, Working within the New Product Engineering (NPI) Team, specifying and delivering quality milestones regarding the introduction of new product and contributing solutions to the project teams & Plant

Key Tasks/Responsibilities

This will include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of the customer APQP and PPAP documents
  • Create and obtain approval for measurement gauge concept with customer
  • MSA studies on CMM fixtures and gauges
  • Buy-off criteria for the fixtures and gauges from supplier
  • Ensure all fixtures and gauges are entered onto the Calibration system
  • Component buy-off at tool makers
  • Create FMEA's, Control Plans and internal documentation
  • Statistical analysis of measurements results from capability studies and produces reports.
  • Interrupting dimensional results
  • Liaison with Assembly Engineers, Stamping Engineers and Project / Programme Management.
  • Provide timing for quality milestones and activities for Project timing plan
  • Statistical analysis of measurements results from capability studies.

  • Escalate issues that could potentially undermine the program
  • Ensuring Quality milestones are achieved
  • Managing Non Conformances (AIMS etc) and implementing procedures and tools including NCR's and 8D's.
  • Interpersonal skill level capable of communicating at all levels.
  • Communication and Presentations, directly with Customers and internal
  • Weekly update identifying uncompleted tasks and missed mile stones
  • In Plant support when required

Essential Skills, Qualifications, Competencies and Experience Required

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude towards change, with a willingness to be flexible and adapt to new circumstances.
  • A proven background of Quality knowledge combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan and manage objectives and priorities despite conflicting agendas and multiple deliveries.

  • Must be committed to ensuring that Health & Safety is of paramount importance.
  • Demonstrate an analytical approach to problem solving while offering original and practical solutions that challenge fixed ideas.
  • Proactively seek to take responsibility for their own development without reliance upon others with regard to the knowledge required to perform fully and well.
  • HNC Qualification in manufacturing or engineering.
  • In depth knowledge of O.E.M's specific requirements
  • GD&T clear understanding
  • An in depth knowledge of Quality Assurance techniques.
  • Possess good reporting skills together with strong verbal communication.
  • Core Tools FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, APQP, PPAP, Etc.
  • General computer literacy with a working knowledge of all relevant software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office and SAP working knowledge would be advantageous , together with good verbal and numerical aptitude

Desired Previous Experience

  • Experience of presswork, tooling and assembly.
  • Previous experience working on NPI projects for other major OEM's.

Advantageous

  • Customer liaison skills.
  • Team Player.
  • Body in white/Chassis/Structural Assemblies.

Required

  • Based in Cannock but will be required to travel to travel abroad to support New Tooling / Assembly Buy offs
  • You must be able to drive and have a current license, as travel to customers and suppliers will be required as and when necessary.
  • Prepared for periods away from home at domestic and foreign customers and suppliers.
  • Have a valid passport (with minimum six months remaining)

Hours/Shifts

38 hours basic. Monday - Friday, overtime and weekend working when required.
