Field Based Employee Relations Consultant – Distribution - Midlands – covering the Birmingham to Leeds area

Salary: Up to £32K - Company Car, Laptop Mobile

About the role:

As a subject matter expert, be responsible for the effective management of Employee Relations activity across the Midlands. Utilise your skills, experience and knowledge of the business to proactively identify any root cause for concern. Work alongside the HR Business Partners, Operations and/or other Centres of Excellence to address any underlying issues

The Role is to:

Provide hands on case management support in investigations, disciplinary, absence, capability and grievance matters and coach people managers on the processProvide expert advice, guidance and coaching for people managers, in terms of interpretation of HR policy, procedures, legislation, consistency and best practiceAttend formal hearings as an advisor to management, where required (always present at potential dismissal/grievance meetings) Facilitate and attend where appropriate, alternative people sessions which may include Welfare visits, Mediation meetings and PIP reviews amongst othersSupport the Corporate HR Business Partner to develop and maintain a suite of policies (and supporting documents) which are fit for purpose and in line with legislative requirements and best practiceSupport the ER Manager with all potential litigious cases/settlement agreements and Tribunal claims, liaising with third parties including ACAS and legal partners on occasion and ensuring costs are controlledSupport the HR Business Partner’s with the management of organizational changes resulting in complex activities, including TUPE transfers, contract/hours changes, restructures and redundancy exercisesUse agreed KPIs to support the HR Business Partners and department managers to identify trends and solutions in terms of reducing attrition/sickness absence and overall avoidable cost Work alongside the HR Business Partners and Learning & Development to support the development of the management capability in best practice, people leadershipMake suggestions and improvements to the current ER processesEnsure a continuation of a harmonious Industrial Relations climate by keeping the Union involved wherever neededBuild and maintain strong working partnerships across HR, the business and with key stakeholders.What essential knowledge, experience, skills, qualifications are needed for the role to be effective?

Proven experience of coaching and supporting managers through complex employee relations issuesRobust employment law and best practice knowledgeIdentifies and deals with issues proactively and persistently, acting promptly in a crisis situationStrong organisation skills, able to prioritise and multi-task in a fast pace, changing environmentAble to work independently, whilst asking for support and accepting when neededExcellent communication and influencing skillsGreat attention to detail with a methodical approachListens to others and communicates in an effective mannerAble to challenge the status quo, consider alternative practices and approaches·Able to develop others by providing a supportive environment for professional growth
