Duties: Accountable to the Engineering Manager for the technical discipline, quality, integrity, capability, competency and performance of his / her discipline unit. Accountable to the Engineering manager for the technical contents of all deliverables within the scope of his / her discipline unit. Accountable for the management of the discipline delivery team unit. - Commissioning authority and signatory - Commissioning authority and signatory for estimates and bids - To be accountable and responsible for the delivery test and commissioning work packages in support of design substantiation - Company expert and point of contact for multiple projects across the business, advising on all aspects of commissioning throughout the product lifecycle - To ensure the performance of commissioning activities related to the unit technical disciplines in accordance with the best engineering practice - Responsible for unit resources, management, development and training - To ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and contractual requirements - Responsible for the quality of commissioning engineering output, adherence to standards and legislation - To ensure the final quality of the set of deliverables in accordance with the efficiency objectives established for each project, the business area and company - To provide guidance of procedures and standards which are the most appropriate for the development of the design - Responsible for the checking and approval of the scope readiness for process stages - Responsible for the acceptance, approval and execution of the test and commissioning strategy satisfying functional and safety functional requirements and chairing compliance reviews - To escalate issues and seek advice from the engineering manager when encountering complex problems - To support the project engineer in technical discussions with clients - To identify possible needs for the acquisition of new knowledge, updates and of technical know-how development for his / her unit - To be capable of properly identifying client's requirements, scope of works and cost relevant to his / her disciplines both for bods and contract execution - Responsible for all schedules of delivery within his / her unit's tasks and assignments - Able to lead continuous improvement initiatives on a day-to-day basis relevant to the technical disciplines of the unit - To apply the company procedures for quality, environmental, health and safety systems and organizational models - Maintaining safety, discipline and control of allocated staff and contractors, ensuring adherence to safe systems of work and HR guidelines Experience required: Mechanical and electrical engineering degree qualified (or equivalent) - typically with post-graduate qualifications (MSc, MEng or PhD) - Test and commissioning capability - Minimum of 10 years continuous and technical relevant experience of which 5 as technical authority / signatory - Member of IMechE / IET Chartered engineer status preferred - Nuclear industry experience preferred - Management and control of engineering delivery commissioning teams - Specialism in one or more of the following areas: - Nuclear decommissioning / new build / plant life extension - Remote handling equipment - Lifting equipment / cranes - Bespoke heavy engineering plant - Harsh environment remote equipment - Machine control systems, instrumentation and process applications - Plant wide automation - Complex safety related high integrity plant and equipment and system automation Person Specification: - This role will require SC Clearance to be obtained - Must be a UK passport holder - Excellent people management skills - Comprehensive engineering technical knowledge - Conscientious approach to engineering design, supported with relevant design analysis background - Meticulous attention to detail - Always strives to provide fit for purpose solutions - Able to motivate and coordinate a delivery team of designers - Keen to ensure the requirements of other engineering and manufacturing functions are incorporated into the design - Maintains and understanding of the latest engineering technologies and innovations - Knowledge of the company's provisions indicated in the quality, environmental, health and safety management system Full time permanent position, 37 working hours per week with occasional travel being required By applying for this role you accept the iProfile terms and conditions ************************************) and agree to receive email notification of other suitable jobs
