This global supplier of Automotive Components with over 160 years expertise, are currently looking for a Toolmaker to join their team in the West Midlands. You will have experience of maintaining, repairing, servicing and regrinding Injection Mould tools, ideally from an automotive background. Working a continental style shift pattern (12 hours - x2 days + x2 nights) Offering an excellent salary of c£44K including shift allowance. The Company:- - Well established company with sites in the US, Asia and Europe - Specialise in providing Automotive Interior and Exterior Systems - One of the largest automotive interior component companies, supplying globally the Automotive Sector, employing over 500 personnel at this West Midlands based site Job Purpose Responsible for the repair, maintenance and improvement to all tooling, jigs, fixtures and fittings for tools in line with production and customer requirements to support business objectives. Support new tooling for new product introductions to ensure the robustness of product builds. Role Responsibilities Repair, maintain, service and regrind tools for injection moulding machinery Attend breakdowns, identify fault and problem solve at the machine with minimal downtime to aid production Evaluate each job and determine if it can be repaired in press or must be removed to Tool Room for essential maintenance and repair work Estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to Engineering Supervisor Ensure all work is undertaken to a high quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations Support new project tooling from commissioning stages through to start of production Assist in tooling buyoffs and trials Manufacture ancillary spares to support production activity and customer deadlines Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance Test and confirm electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic operation of tools before return to production Maintain the highest standards of workmanship at all times Record all relevant data in relation to tooling and record on the Tool Room database Understand and operate within basic cost/budget measures for tooling Work within 5S methodology to maintain workplace to a high standard Undertake special projects as required Quality control of work by appropriate reviews Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems Suitable Candidate Experienced Toolmaker from an Injection Moulding manufacturing background Ideally from Automotive Apprentice trained or equivalent experience within Injection moulding Experience of Maintaining, servicing and repairing Injection mould tools NVQ Level 2 qualification in tool making or equivalent Understanding of lean manufacturing and 5S process Overhead Crane Licence up to 40T Understanding of engineering drawings & manufacturing processes Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to present data effectively Problem-solving skills Understand lean manufacturing Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team Able to work with minimum supervision and to timescales
