We have a fantastic opportunity for a PR & Communications Manager within the PR team at our Support Centre in Redditch.

This role brings together PR, blogger outreach and CSR, with a great mix of strategic thinking and hands on activity. Leading on Group Cycling PR, it is also responsible for local and Republic of Ireland PR, blogger outreach, PR monitoring and evaluation, charity partnerships and deputising for Head of Communications.

Reporting into the Head of Communications, key responsibilities of the role include;

Accountable for the development and delivery of a PR plan to drive awareness, footfall and sales for Halfords Group Cycling, as well as local PR and Republic of Ireland
Development and delivery of relevant media events, press releases and flashes to promote Halfords strategic priorities, products, ranges and interests
Drive LFL improvements in share of voice, key messages, as well as product reviews / endorsements in areas of responsibility
Identify opportunities arising from the news agenda and actively seek opportunities to maximise relationships with partners, bodies and ambassadors
Represent Halfords with media and other bodies /partners as appropriate
Development of an outreach programme for bloggers, working closely with SEO
A lead role in the Communications team, working collaboratively to ensure that plans are aligned across Marketing, Digital, Consumer, Public Affairs
Development of our charity partnerships and a programme of school bike donations, supporting Head of Communications on CSR related projects
PR department projects, processes and systems, including sample, courier and any bike build requirements
PR monitoring and evaluation
Deputy for Head of Communications and support on Crisis Management

If you like variety, have a passion for cycling and want a mix of strategic and hands-on activity across a range of areas, then this is the role for you. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes, professional skills and competencies:

A minimum of 3 years' PR experience operating at a junior management level
A strong track record of devising PR plans and campaigns, driving positive PR to increase footfall and sales online and in-store
A passion for cycling (ideally a keen cyclist), with good knowledge of cycles, parts accessories and clothing (PACs) and the cycling market
A strong track record of building and maintaining relationships with the media, as well internal and external stakeholders
A strong sense of what makes news, with creative flair to ensure Halfords Group stands out
A track record of devising successful plans to maximise relationships with partners and associated partners to benefit wider Group
PR experience in retail environment, with cycling media experience a preference

An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with tenacity, drive and appetite to continually raise the bar
Strong writing, interpersonal and cross-functional working skills
Gravitas and confidence when presenting to and working at Director level
Self-motivated, highly flexible and use of initiative to do a great job
Strong organisational skills
Excellent time management skills
Ability to work autonomously and manage numerous projects at any one time
Ability to work at pace, with flexibility and to build and maintain strong relationships
Competent in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
