Our client who are a Large Global Logistics Company are looking for a Transport Coordinator for a 6 month period to support our one of their Major Automotive Logistics accounts. They have an LLP (4PL) contract with with the Automotive client where they manage all of their global inbound and outbound transport for OE and aftermarket via dedicated nominated carriers.

The role is based in Barton-under-Needwood nera Burton-on-Trent

The role they need to fill focuses on the air and ocean freight movements for the customer. The manufacturing base is in Scandinavia so movements will be in out of that region.

The role Purpose includes :

- Execution of the day to day operational tasks over all modes (Road/Air/Ocean) to support the business as usual activities ensuring a high quality of service
- Create & tender collection requirements to predefined carrier base over all modes (Road/Air/Ocean) utilising our clients web based system - Support the development of processes to execute operational activities and to support continuous improvement initiatives - Ensure timely and accurate resolution of customer queries through our clients web based Customer Service System - - Provide comprehensive operational administrative support for MII initiatives to deliver tangible financial savings
Key Tasks :
- To provide a key operational contact for all stakeholders - customer, supplier, carrier, client operations and FB&A - Execution of business processes in support of Control Tower operational activity (Accurate shipment booking and execution, systemised management of on-time collection and delivery) - Working within a wider team collaborative support of continuous improvement and cost saving initiatives
- Ensure that all aspects of the business operate within defined corporate and legislative requirements
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with the customer and carriers to ensure all operational KPI targets are met - Accurate execution of day to day operational activities in an effective manner meeting required timelines
- Operational support in achievement of contractual cost down targets
- System driven management of timely and accurate provision of transport milestone updates into our clients web based system - Negotiation and recording of spot quotations to support non contracted routings, accurate cost input to OTM system and timely resolution of queries - Support project activities as and when required
- Operational processing of transport insurance claims
- Timely and complete investigation and closure of all customer queries

- Ensure all planning activity is within parameters of customer Service Level Agreement (SLA)
- Support the achievement of operational performance as defined by customer contract and KPIs
- Support a culture of continuous improvement in routing and scheduling activities to ensure cost down targets are met
- Demonstrate a can-do approach in support of customer working patterns and out of hours requirements to meet business needs
- Work closely with the senior Transport Co-odinator to ensure that all operational activities are completed effectively and on-time - Build trusted relationships with service providers, off-site colleagues and customers to drive supply chain success.
- Support other control tower work streams as required (TLCM / PCM / IT)
- To ensure that all aspects of the business operate within defined corporate and legislative requirements
- To comply with best practice and highest standards and ensure these standards are consistently achieved, reviewed and improved
- To foster a culture of continuous improvement and "best in class" cost control

TO APPLY FOR THIS ROLE YOU MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WORKING WITHIN A SHIPPING DEPARTMENT OF A MAUNFACTURER OR SUPPLY CHAIN / LOGISTICS COMPANY WITH A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF AIR AND SEA FREIGHT MOVEMENTS USING CARRIERS / FREIGHT FORWARDERS
