Business Development Manager (Automotive Sector)
My client has an awesome online automotive intelligence service. It powers product and technology strategy across vehicle manufacturers like Ford, FiatChrysler and Jaguar LandRover as well as their major suppliers all over the world.
Launched in 2011, the subscription-based web-service now has over 100 clients. In this exciting and demanding role, you will be charged with finding new customers who have the problems and challenges that this product addresses.
Why is this different from other Business Development jobs?
It is a specialist product so you will need specialist selling skills. You will learn to go way beyond basic sales processes. They will help you become an expert in advanced consultative selling techniques which their team has been honing over the past six years - and then continue to improve upon them. You'll benefit from their huge investments into the very latest sales training and methods. After a short-time you'll be avoiding the "buyer-seller dance" and be a trusted advisor. If you want to stay selling features and benefits and worry about "Always Be Closing" then this is not the job for you.
My client -
You'll be joining a 40-person, profitable, growing, technology and data company based in South Birmingham. You might not have heard of them - but you will most definitely know their customers - most of the Fortune 500 across automotive, food, drinks and clothing. Names such as Nike, BMW, Heineken, Mars, PepsiCo, Bloomberg - the list goes on.
You'll work with super-bright people, with lots of energy and you'll be encouraged (like everyone else) to go for it and champion new ideas. This spirit is part of their DNA from back in 1999 when they created the original mould for online business-to-business web sites and were an early pioneer in online e-commerce and subscriptions.

What do you need to demonstrate to get this job?
•You will already have a huge passion for sales and learning and some experience selling to businesses

•You will have an open-mind, curious nature and genuinely care about delivering great customer value and service
•You will be self-organised and mature enough to take responsibility for your own development and success

•You will have resilience and patience given lead times with particular customers can be longer than what you might be used to
•You will need to be able travel internationally to meet with customers
The salary will be between GBP25-GBP28k (depending upon experience) plus an uncapped bonus scheme. Additional perks include; healthcare cash plan, flexi-time scheme, holiday increasing with service and extra days paid holiday between Christmas and New Year.
