As our successful Senior Test Engineer, you will work within the Reference System to support the development, planning and execution of the designed tests to verify and validate solutions and service upgrades following business test governance processes.
You will be accountable for the delivery of successful test and acceptance activities for products, solutions and enhancements.
You will be required to set direction for the test approach in both The Reference System and in the live environment (Operational Network).
You will scope, design, plan, manage and execute test and acceptance activities in Reference System and in the live environment.
As our Senior Test Engineer, you will lead and manage direct reports and virtual teams.
You will build and manage end-user, authority and supplier relationships and expectations. And will lead on technical and commercial negotiations with suppliers, authorities and end-users.

Job Description

Build and maintain strong and effective working relationships with regulatory authorities, end users and suppliers at all levels; direct technical and non-technical meetings, which would include Matrix management of diverse virtual teams.
• Analysis of requirements definition & specification, review of requirements for ambiguity and conflict
• Acquire a methodical understanding of the technical solution under test and authority and end-user requirements
• Provision of appropriate and timely test environments and the associated O&M
• Sourcing and provision of test analysis tools
• Define, negotiate, develop and gain agreement for test; scope, strategy, approach, plans, cases, scripts and reporting to required timescales and quality
• Dictate and chair meetings to drive progress with internal/external stakeholders; produce and deliver supporting material and presentations
• Plan, manage and co-ordinate test execution; direct and co-ordinate on-site teams and manage local test schedules, to include matrix management of virtual teams
• Act as technical test lead with stakeholders at all levels
• Ensure adherence to company test policies, processes and standards; QA test team deliverables
• Lead on fault diagnostics and the resolution of issues
• Scope, plan, direct and execute customer demonstrations, PoCs, trials and pilots
• Produce test related responses for bid work including RFI, PPQs and ITTs
• Manage and resolve resourcing conflicts
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with test activities
• Lead on handover to delivery and/or in-life support
• Manage personal and team budgets, identify efficiencies to reduce costs
• Technical project and problem management and the negotiation of issues to resolution with suppliers, authorities, end-users and colleagues.
• Planning of test resources, equipment, configuration and schedules.
• Dictate and gain agreement to the scope of testing to facilitate customer acceptance; identification of operational impacts
• Judgement on and subsequent execution of an appropriate level of testing time/resources versus cost and company/customer risk decisions
• On site management of fault diagnostics with suppliers / customers, implementation and testing of resolution and associated stakeholder communications
• Application of test governance and documentation to audit standards
• Achieving acceptance by customers with differing technical and operational issues

Basic Requirements

• ITSQB foundation
• ITIL V3 foundation
• Proven practical experience of managing testing and test resources, scoping and executing technical testing in a telecommunications / IT environment; both reference system and field testing including all test phases / stages
• Proven experience of building and establishing excellent working relationships with suppliers, customers and stakeholders at all levels working on large-scale projects
• Operate with a high degree of autonomy, exercising sound commercial judgment; ability to make decisions and provide recommendations to senior management
• Provide cost models to enable assessment of financial impacts
• Must have the skills and confidence to present to large audiences, senior management and customers
• Aptitude and capability to understand the functionality and requirements of the solution under test and associated customer operations to a sufficient level to enable direction setting in technical discussions / operational evaluation; possess a level of technical and commercial awareness to enable assessment of an appropriate test scope
• Direction setting and management of all testing activities following test governance processes
• Identification and development of continuous improvement plans
