We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Officer based in Birmingham. The person will be responsible for all aspects of the procurement cycle including client driven purchases and items required by the office. The position is part of the finance team with the procurement officer reporting on a day to day basis to the Finance Manager, but ultimately to the Finance Director.
The person, over time, will be expected to understand and cover for certain aspects of their finance team colleagues. A "can do" attitude is a must.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the sales team to facilitate the ordering process, and to ensure orders are successfully placed
  • Following up on queries and discrepancies with orders and pricing
  • Processing all orders in relation to customer needs, including internal requirements and capital spend
  • Tracking of orders to ensure SLA's are met
  • Maintenance of the order processing cycle within SAGE
  • Establishing working relationships with distributors and suppliers in order to understand their processes. This will involve constant communication via telephone, email and face to face contact
  • Reviewing, on a regular basis, the distributors and supplier's relationships and, where appropriate begin a re-tendering process. The role must ensure we receive the best prices we can, together with receiving the best service we can
  • Reviewing current systems and controls within the finance department pertaining to the purchasing function, and working closely with the Finance Manager to improve those systems and controls where appropriate

The successful applicant will also have the following skills:

  • High organisational skills
  • Ability to manage the expectations of the sales team and management
  • Proven work history in a similar role within a purchasing environment. Having worked in the IT industry would be an advantage but is not a pre-requisite
  • Computer literate with a working knowle3dge of Outlook, Word, Excel, Sage, Navision, CRM
  • Proactive and used to working on own initiative
  • Excellent customer care and communication skills with the ability to maintain good customer and supplier relations both in person and at a distance
  • A strong, flexible team player with proven problem solving skills
