Senior HR Advisor - 12 Month FTC

Your new company

My client are a national logistics/wholesale business which form part of a global group with head quarters in Stoke on Trent.

They now have a requirement for an experienced Senior HR Advisor to cover a period of maternity for a minimum of 12 months.

Your new role

Providing a generalist HR service to the national distribution network and Head Office functions, supporting and advising on their HR operational requirements to drive better business performance. In addition, playing a key role in the design, development and implementation of proactive HR initiatives, change programmes and projects, as directed by the HR Manager or HR Director, whilst managing a day to day generalist HR service to their defined business areas.

Scope of Role

Responsible for advising on ER cases up to and including Senior Management, responsible for advising on ER cases up to and including Mid-level management and sometimes up to Senior Management as directed by the HR Manager and / or HR Director.

Key Responsibilities

You will own key business relationships with assigned areas and provides expert advice, guidance and direction to support the effective operation of the business whilst acting as a subject matter expert on core HR policies, processes and procedures, providing specialist advice and direction on their practical application to key stakeholders.

You will oversee all ER cases within own defined area of responsibility, providing commercially-focused advice and direction on all employee relations issues, balancing the needs of the business, employee impact, risk and cost.

As Senior HR Advisor you will manage all escalated casework from the HR Advisor - where these are particularly complex, requiring in-depth specialist knowledge and/or are potentially high profile including attending formal meetings where dismissal is a potential outcome and escalating formal appeals to the HR Manager.

You will Proactively supporting the business to manage employee wellbeing to reduce sickness absence and be proactive in identifying opportunities for the continuous improvement and development of HR service provision across the business, making recommendations and playing a leading role in devising, developing and implementing policy and process improvements.

What you'll need to succeed

Extensive generalist HR experience, preferably in a commercial, private sector industry with demonstrable continued professional development. Excellent knowledge of all areas of HR policy, process, their practical application and best practice with the ability to quickly grasp commercial issues within a defined business area. You will have the ability to influence to a high level through excellent listening and questioning skills with the ability to demonstrate good judgement and decision making, by identifying options and weighing up pros and cons based on risk and commercial awareness.

You will need to be flexibility to travel and work from other sites with occasional overnight stays
