A world renowned Global Automotive Manufacturer are looking to recruit a Press Toolmaker to join their Cannock site. Carrying out repairs and maintenance to all tooling including dies, jigs and fixtures within predetermined timescales, you will also carry out any other duties, including overtime, relevant to the post which may arise thus ensuring a comprehensive and flexible service to the business and the department.


As a Press Toolmaker, you will carry out effective maintenance and repairs so there is not an indirect effect on cost depreciation value of tools. Completing all tool notes without fail, you will evaluate each individual job to determine whether it can be repaired in Press or whether this must be removed to Tool room for essential maintenance and repair work. Communicating effectively with shift managers and press technicians to ensure all issues are resolved correctly and in a timely manner, you will be expected to complete all work within set timescales dictated by production/customer requirements. All completed work must then be logged on the Tooling Repair Request note and the appropriate Tooling Record is updated.You will also be expected to estimate the length of time required to complete a job and plan ahead for any issues that may arise to ensure you are working within the required time scales.


To succeed within this role, you will be apprentice trained with an engineering qualification. With previous experience in fault finding within a role, you will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and have an excellent understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace. Ideally, you will be experienced in transfer and progression press tooling and having previously operated potentially dangerous machinery, you will be experienced within Die dismantling, Crane slinging, strong>Gas spring maintenance and repair, Tool polishing and Mig, Tig and Arc welding
A forklift truck and overhead cranes license is desirable, and experience in some or all of the below equipment will further strengthen your application.

As an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, you will be open to change and with a can-do approach. We're looking for a highly organised individual who has the ability to effectively manage time and prioritise their workload.


In return, you will receive an hourly rate depending on experience. There is also overtime paid at enhanced rates.


Working 39 hours per week, there are a combination of shift patterns to suit including shifts running on a 3 shift basis (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am), night shift only and double days (6am-2pm/2pm-10pm rotating weeks).
