Salary: GBP21,677.00
GBP11.58 per hour for a 36 hour week
Night Shift Allowance


We are looking to recruit a technically competent Shot Blasting Operator at our Rail facility in Stoke-on-Trent. Ideally apprentice trained in a mechanical discipline or in procession of NVQ Level 3 or above. Previous experience of Shot Blasting large metal components is preferable although some in-house training & accreditation will be offered to the most suitable candidate. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide additional support where required to alternative production activities, therefore a degree of flexibility is required. Support to production with regards to technical aspects of the overhaul process will also be required with an ability to interpret, apply & communicate the requirements of engineering drawings & technical documents is essential.

Roles & responsibilities:
*The day-to-day cleaning and blasting of wheelsets, bogies & components using the Shot Blast Booth
*Support of day-to-day production activities within the assembly areas.
*The accurate completion of process documentation & overhaul records.
*The development of process through the application of Business Improvement techniques.
*To work within & maintain the company standards of Quality, Environmental Management & Health & Safety.
*Understand & affirm the importance of safety critical functions.
*To guide & support production teams where necessary regarding the technical aspects of the blasting/cleaning process.

*Apprentice trained or NVQ level 3 or above, however experience supersedes all.
*A high degree of accuracy & attention to detail.
*Proven initiative & determination & being capable of working unsupervised or as part of a work-group.
*Effective communicator in both verbal & written form.
*A high level of technical competence & a willingness to develop personally in line with business strategies.
*Desirable Candidates will be required to demonstrate a proven track record in a similar role with particular emphasis on the use of a variable of blasting media and maintenance and upkeep of the blasting booth and associated equipment
*Must have a flexible attitude to shifts as occasional nights may be required subject to work requirements
